Supa or Rapid wing BY supapeg

Anyone own either of these and give an honest account.

I have one of their awnings already and love it but with a simmo trip planned next year I want a wrap around style.

I note the Supawing has a bigger area but seems to have more bits an pieces to set-up but also can take walls.

The rapid is faster a bit smaller less poles but no wall possible.

Any advice or reviews from myswag members

Hi Jetcrew I am looking at getting the awning that is 2m along vehicle 3m out to put on the DMAX cant remember which one it is.  Have looked at the wing ones and they look good what type of vehicle are you putting it on?  We had thought about perhaps the one I mentioned and the rear vehicle one if we ever manage to get a canopy on as this would give some extra shade at the back for the engel and if we want to set anything up there say to cook or whatever.  I look forward to seeing which one you go with. Sorry I cannot give you an account of if they are good or not

I've got them separated... So an 2m long 2.5 out side and then a custom rear awning.
Peter at supapeg is fantastic. Great quality and can customise.

I just did the simpson and I have to admit with the great weather the side went out for lunches but other then that we didn't use them.

I have that one already from supapeg very happy with it . As I have the 3/4 length roof rack on the 100 I did not want it hanging out the front, Thought about just buying a rear but I like the wrap around if it rains.

It is 2.0 x 3.0 out from car and I love it no frames so flexible set up options and goes all the way to ground if needed.

new one will be the 2.10 X whatever in the wings .

Am worried about the tail gate with a standard rear awning and the door height but the wing seems to accommodate the tail gate door better.

Haven't got one of their awnings, but I've had a good gander at em and likes the cuts of their jib so to speak ... aarrrrrrr. Good mob to deal with too, as well, also.

Have a look at Clevershade. Currently using the 4.0m 270 degree wrap around awning. Love it for the simplicity. No poles no ropes, very quick set up. We tow a boat so it is handy being able to fold it away and launch/retreive the boat with little effort.

www.clevershade.com has a slideshow showing the 180 degree version. They really are light enough to take off and stash in the shed when not needed. We've been on the road for 8 weeks now and while its not as big as a foxwing or supapeg, they are lighting quick to set up.

Also made in Brisbane using top quality Aussie canvas.

Bit of a thread dig from this older thread but I figure those that have had these awnings for a few years now, might have some good feedback.

I want a decent awning that covers the rear of the patrol when the doors are open and I don't want to have to roll out two different awnings at side and rear. So I think the wing style are a brilliant option.

Afeter seeing the Ostrich wing and finding out it is too big and bulky, needs a huge reinforced mounting point, weighs nearly 40kg and is over $1400 bucks, er No.

The Supapeg awning looks the goods, lighter, a little more compact on the side of the roofrack, the folded up bag is not as high as the Foxwing when mounted.

So who has the Supapeg Supa-wing or the simpler Rapid-wing and which one do you rekon is better.

I have the Supa Wing, I liked the rectangular 2 x 2.5 area that comes out from the side. Allowed a screen/ enclosed room if needed. Nothing nicer than to be able to enclose that area.

Rapid Wing would be quicker to swing out, but for me the extra time IMHO the Supa Wing takes is worth it. Bear in mind I would rather spend a little more time to set up and be comfortable,  than less time and be so so. But that's me.

Happy to set up for either a overnight with the enclosed room, or as a quick lunch stop. Was great to have a sanctuary from wind/flies/etc, and gave us somewhere to sit out of the weather at night when the temps started to drop.

Have just come back from a 5 week jaunt through Central Aus and a west east crossing of the Simpson and the ability to be able to peg it down at night was invaluable.

I have a supa wing........had for nearly four years now and recommend it regularly. They are pricey and good quality to go with it.

I recently looked at the rapid but recon the super is better, it's like one extra pole and two spreader that just clip on.

I have sat under a fox wing and reckon the supa wing is cooler. The fox wing is cheaper and is the same shape as the rapid.

If you are handy you can play around with how it's mounted for height.

I have an OzTrail awning and a mozi net room that clips on under it. I have stitched into the mozi net a full zip and sock that fitts around the back of my Patrol so I can have the back doors open, the kitchen out and fold down table on the back door all under shade and mozi/fly proof.
 But to set up I have to un-strap the awning from the side, move it around and clip it into my roof rack at the rear, clamp some bolts down to secure it then pull out the awning. This seemed like a good idea at the time but has become a pain in the ass when packing up or setting up quickly. Or like yesterday when the rain and wind came in just as I was packing up.


So my thought is to have a decent quality wing style awning that I can pull out for a quick lunch stop, covering the back doors in sunshine or rain. But also have enough awning over the rear to attach my mozi mesh room and be cooking out the back mozi free.

The Supa-wing looks like it is better set up to attach a room on the side but not so much cover at the rear for my mozi mesh room.

I looked at a Foxwing and the super massive Ostrich wing (which has no poles and much bigger swing out arms). But I also need to attach to the side of a low profile fibreglass hard shell roof top camper, so the low bag height of the Supa wing or Rapid wing, are much better for clearance to my camper top.  I am trying to have it all mounted extra low profile so the whole car with roof top camper and awnings will fit in a shipping container for overseas expeditions. Not asking too much am I?

So out of all the other wing type awnings, the Superpeg seems to be the best for all. Pity I am in West Oz ant they are on the other side of the planet in Qld. I might have to go for a weekend drive to check them out.

Good to hear. I have only heard positive comments about all their gear and it seems they do custom work and a few innovative products like a new shaped rear awning, so they are not mass produced Chinese rubbish.

Don't forget that Foxwing released the smaller version last month called the Eco 2.1 which is 2.0 metres vs the 2.5m fullsize and it's $300 cheaper.

Thanks Jeeps, I thought about a smaller size wing for less weight and smaller packed up size, but I really want the biggest area over the back door area where we have the kitchen, drawes, table fridge when camping.

Weeds, yes I checked the price of the Supa wing,  not cheap but after talking to the guys at Supa peg, I am going to order the 2.5m Supa Wing.

they offered a discount for 4WD event I ran three years ago..........I had already brought one with no discount and it was use as a display. from memory they made three post event sales.

Sometimes I think it would be great to have one off the back of the vehicle but the roof of the canopy I think opens too high and I wish they offered a design in the rear one like the eco rv so that the price was a bit less I don't really want to pay more for a smaller one.  I do like the look of the rear wing ones also if you have kitchen etc in the back.
