G'day from Canberra
« on: May 23, 2014, 10:04:09 PM »
G'day all

I'm looking at buying my first CT in the next couple of months. I've been lurking for a little while now and would like to thank everyone for the invaluable help I've already received just by reading the posts. I can't believe the knowledge that is here on this one site. I think it's awesome!

Welcome Fromm fellow Canberran.

Good luck in finding the camper of your dreams.  Befre buying we hired a Johnnos and a Tvan locally, and that helped us decide what features mattered to us.   Hiring is a great way to earn what you value.

Enjoy the forum.  So much great info.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I noticed you both have Jeeps. I have a 2012 CRD Grand Cherokee as well. I can't wait to complete the package and start my own adventures.

G'day D4D. You would think so, wouldn't you. But no, I don't live in Fyshwick although we do spend a lot of time visiting.

G'day Rob

I'm still a little confused about what to buy. We're not looking at traveling across the outback (well not at this stage) but don't want to restrict ourselves to tourist parks either. The minister for war and finance has allowed me $7k to play with. I've had a look at some shows where I saw some of the Chinese imports, but I wasn't really convinced enough to lay out some hard earned with any of them. I've also been looking closely at the second hand market and have seen some good value for money.

We have three older teenagers, a 4 year old and one imminent arrival. The older girls are blase about camping, but the boys are excited. I don't want to miss anymore time with the kids before they fly the coop so I would be looking for something that will accommodate 4 or 5 at any one time, where the minister and two smaller kids especially will be comfortable.

Any advice or recommendations will be appreciated.

Belated welcome to myswag.  Good luck with your CT search.  Took us 12 months of looking before we made a decision.

Happy camping

Groaner, belated welcome as well.  Like KB it took us some time to find both the right two tug and CT ... Less than 30 days till we head towards the tip to test them out ...
