Hello
« on: May 28, 2014, 12:07:25 PM »
Hi, been lurking around here for a while snatching electrical tips from some wiser members, thought Id say hello. We've just picked up a off road soft floor camper of the brand that cannot be mentioned here to match the destinations we head out too, we've gone from nylon tent, to swags to canvas tourer tent to the final evolution the CT, dragged it out to XL track in Wombat / Lerderderg State Forest last weekend for an overnighter and it was an awesome first outing and we're actually quite happy with it aside from the fuel consumption that its going to add to our already thirsty '93 GQ Patrol wagon, but that's the way it goes ;) sheer bloody luxury sleeping on an innerspring queen-size bed out in the bush I reckon!!

Thanks fella's, used to do a bit of serious (some may say foolish) wheeling but I'm getting too old / slack for that now, I don't like getting out of the truck to run rope anymore, actually I just don't like getting out.. Hopefully the trailer will keep up with the truck, went into the deal with low expectations and I'm actually quite surprised, pleasantly even. So we're in for some long distance trips in comfort now, I've even been able to put the back seats back in now that all the gear goes in the trailer so its no longer the worlds fattest 2 seater!! Awesome forum you have here, lots of handy info, thanks for the welcome(s)..

Welcome to myswag, great to have you onboard. There are a few of us out your way and happy to catch up anytime.  Your story sounds great thus far and happy to read more about your trips and tours.

There's a few of us heading up to The Pine at Eildon for the long weekend if you want to meet some other swagggers. You'd be more than welcome.

I'm with you on the comfort part, mate.

I have been a sleeping bag and steel-capped work boots for bedroom slippers type of camper for all my life to date.

Will be picking up an Oztrail Camper 6 in Sydney sometime in the next month (It's sitting in their store, waiting for me ... ), along with a sump guard for my car.

I figured that if I want or need to just stay put for a few days, no way was it going to be in my "crusader" tent! I have enough trouble just getting down to floor level these days - getting back up again is another matter ... :(.

Hey ratbag, yeah the canvas tourer tent was an awesome step up, and we swore by the Coleman Bigfoot king size airbed... Best sleep ever compared to a nylon tent and a rays air bed... Coleman stopped making the Bigfoot mattresses and we had a rip in ours and had to use a standard one on a trip to murrindindi over Easter and it sold us on the camper upgrade... Heading to Taggerty for QB weekend and the proper mattress and electric blanket running off the inverter is something that I'm looking forward to.. Still got to put some electrics in the trailer but finding a spot for it all is a bit of a challenge... Thanks again everyone for the welcomes
