Hey all from broome
« on: May 19, 2014, 09:16:17 AM »
G-day to all my swagers,
Have been a cheat user for a long time and thought I better join and introduce myself (so much info on here never really needed to post before)

Bought my first camper trailer at 22 (now 27) and have been traveling most of the top end since. Is a basic soft floor set up on home made(not by me) 4x4 trailer. Great for weekends away and exploring the top end.

My circumstances have changed a bit over those years and fishing trips with the boys have been replaced with camping with the wife and 2yo boy. Also a possible shift change at work to 2 week on/off looks like we will soon have a lot more time up our sleeves to travel further afield/ visit family interstate.

So the decision has been made to ditch the old girl in favour of a newer jayco swan outback. Am well aware of their shortcoming in terms of off road performance/ quality etc but feel it will suit our future travels to the T. All of my serious 4wding and fishing adventures involve mates and a roof top tent anyway.

Would love some advice from other jayco owners in regards to what to look for in a 2nd hand unit. Will be looking at 2010 onwards(mrs likes new shiny things and to be honest so do I). Seems lots are advertised saying as new or little use so dont want to be caught out by shiny stickers or bling wheels.

Thanks in advance for your help

Troy

Welcome aboard Troy

Fridge operation is probably a good start as they were plagued with issues. Cracks around the cornering of the roof. Door.
Im sure there is many more and a few others will add

Good luck.

Wow quick replies. Looking at a 2011 model later today, thought being in broome it may be hard to find a good unit but it seems these things are everywhere.

Now to spruce up the old girl and get her sold. Anyone want an oldie but a goodie
