G'day g'day
« on: March 24, 2014, 11:38:05 AM »
Morning folks,

Well my name is Rob and I'm a thirty year old originally from Melbourne but currently keeping myself occupied with an Oyster farm to the South of Coffs Harbour. It keeps me busy for approximately half a year and the other time I divide working for family/friends/the government (please don't hate me for the last bit) back in Melbourne or high country Victoria..

I currently drive a 97 HDJ80 Land Cruiser that is pretty well kitted out but after wanting an auto and something a bit more refined and quite inside the cabin, I've just purchased a 96 turbo FZJ80 Land Cruiser. So now I'm trying to decide what to do with them both, I'm currently trying to decide if I'm going to  swap over the good bits and pieces from the old cruiser to the new cruiser or whether I should sell it virtually as is, to hopefully get a bit more money for it, and start a fresh on the modifying the new one..

No camper trailer or plans for one as most of my touring and fly fishing is solo, so I generally just cruise around with a swag. In the new rig though I plan to remove the back seats and set it up as a two seat tourer with a storage/drawer system that will hold all my vehicle, camping and food requirements and also allow me to sleep in the back when I want to.

Just wanted to say thanks for the forum, it's certainly a great resource with a lot of information here - I recently came back and started browsing the forum again in the electrical section as I wanted to learn how to do all the wiring and the like myself so I could setup the new rig myself, but have since branched out into the other sections of the forum and am enjoying my time on here.

So cheers, all the best and I shall start a vehicle thread for those who are interested in seeing my progress,
Rob

p.s here's the old(left) and the new(right) cruiser

Welcome to myswag Bob, not one, but two cruisers, wow some folks on here going to be a bit jealous.

On the strip and sell question, my god son just sold his 80 privately and dropped a bit of $$'s less than He was expecting.  Yes they're a wanted vehicle, but he'd spent nearly $10k on his mods and we got the feeling that most lookers wanted a basic unit that they could then spec up to their own wants and desires.

Suggest you could try and sell as is and see how quickly it goes (or not), then strip back if you find the same as we did.

Anyhoo, happy swagging.

Thanks for the welcome fellas and yes it is enjoyable having a coupla land cruisers, my money tree is starting to look like the drought is having an effect on it, so unfortunately the plan will be to sell the HDJ80 when I've gotten around to swapping things over to the FZJ80.

Yeah it's a tough decision Scarps, as I want to put a few of the parts from the HDJ onto the FZJ, I'm thinking it will probably be worth stripping the HDJ back to virtually stock, well virtually stock apart the G Turbo, intercooler and various other engine mods, and selling it like that and then selling the parts that I don't want to put on the FZJ, off privately.

Bloody land cruiser money pits, pretty sure the said money tree above that is starting to be effected by the drought, will be dead by the time I'm done with the new cruiser 8)

At least they look really good whilst they're draining your money tree  :-\

Good to see they sit on their natural habitat whilst at home too.

Definitely class myself in the jealous category. Welcome aboard
