Vehicle Brokers
« on: November 06, 2016, 07:09:27 PM »
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has experience using a vehicle broker for a new vehicle purchase.
I've never done it that way  but I am in the process of looking at a replacement for my work  ute  (currently a 2012 BT50 4x4 Extra Cab tray back with a canopy)
and I'm trying to consider all my options.

If anyone has got some experience with them ( good , bad or otherwise ) I'd be keen to hear what it is.

Cheers

Yes, twice I have used a broker.  Both times very happy.  Just remember, that a broker charges a fee.  Somebody has to pay that fee  ;D

Are you salary sacrificing?  The salary sacrificing company will broker a deal but you are not obliged to use their broker.

Are you a member of a trade union?  Is that union a member of Union Shopper.  They have a brokerage arm which I have used.

Are you a member of RACQ?  They have a car buying service.

Are you a member of a credit union? Some have a car buyimg service.

Good luck

I did try a broker in the last 6 months. This was with one of the big brokers that advertise a lot.
Got a better deal first time I walked into a dealership on my own..
Wouldn't bother with a broker again, much less hassle dealing with the dealership direct myself.

Yep and the experience was very good.

Car Search Brokers.

As a matter of course, would be wise to keep a record of all conversations and what they said they will or will not include or what you will be paying for.

That said, heaps less painful than dealing with a parasitic car dealer. I generalise of course! 👍

Thanks for all the replies

I've had a look at a few of the brokers websites - like Private-fleet. RACQ offer free use of them for members. I'll call them and Car Search Brokers tomorrow.

I'm going to see the local dealer this week too. Last time I got a fleet price through the firm I work for and from memory the deal was pretty good .
I think it was about $3000  off the advertised drive away price and it included a handful of extras..... Black duck seat covers, alloy wheels, sidesteps, bonnet protector and tow pack with a redarc brake controller and a tray.

I got my canopy made locally here and while its in good nick I'm going to get a price for a new one.

Cheers

I have used a broker for the past 12 years make life far easier.
I ring him up with what I want he gets me a price and organisers the delivery of the car.
Wouldn't do it any other way

I've used Private Fleet before and certainly would again, but as others have said you can often get better prices yourself so it still pays to do your own legwork as well. Of the last 3 cars I've bought they got a better deal than I could get on one, but the other 2 I found better deals myself.
