Newbie from SA
« on: September 04, 2013, 02:00:09 PM »
Hey there MySwaggers.   Just a bit of an introductory post.  I joined a while back and lurked a bit whilst contemplating whether to build my own camper.  I was fairly set on it until SWMBO showed me a set of approved house plans and I set off on adding 100sqm in the form of a second story and completely rebuilding the existing lower level.  Anyway, the short story is that this worked to my advantage as I said well in that case, I'm buying a camper trailer beforehand.

So, I located an entry level Offroad camper in the local area for a steal.  We had looked at other cheap imports but the canvas was always thin and hopeless.  This one was much better in this regard and with 7-leaf springs, battery setup + kitchen etc, and an overall good build, I considered it a good start. We generally like touring, so happy to stay off the bitumen, but I avoid extreme places with this camper (given it's a no namer).  Having said that, it's seen a lot of outback roads, been towed through the Border track (i.e., Ngarkat Conservation Park), been up to the flinders, all over yorkes, and is about to spend two weeks around the Grampians and (after a two day work stop), the Otway Ranges.

Anyway, I'm expanding my horizons as they say (i.e., adding MySwag to my preferred forum list).  I hope to be able to contribute where I can...

A few piccies.  Hope to see some MySwaggers around the place!

And a few more of leading the Prado group astray last year, and our trip into Ngarkat...

I'm taking the kids out of school and leaving on Thursday 25th. I need to be in werribee for Tuesday 1st and Wed 2nd. Then I just gotta get back by the 7th. I have no other concrete plans. I was thinking Grampians first, then Otway NP etc after the 2nd. I could flip this around and do Grampians second though. I was just worried the Grampians could be busy with the Public holiday, but then I don't think Vic has the public holiday!   Where are you staying in the Grampians?
