Jayco leaning roof ???

I,m being told by Jayco and their contractor that any Jayco Campertrailer with a bag awning will lean to one side  quite significantly due to extra weight...My problem is that I have inspected other Campers with the same set up as mine and they didn,t have this problem. Does anybody else have this problem or am I just getting the run around....

we have a bagged awning on our swan and never had a problem with it leaning and its a 2004 model.

Mate, they are having a lend of you. I'm starting to think they have some roof alignment issues. When I lower my roof the front of the roof has trouble sealing properly.

mine leans a little but only when i have the guy ropes placed to far away from the annexe which they are pulling the roof to a lean.

Put support poles in each corner; this will limit the lean to the height of the poles.

They all have a bit of a lean.

Some just install opposing guys, as I have.

I always found it useful that it leaned that way I knew where the water was going when it rained

Could it be that the nylon guide bushes in the lift post segments have worn / perrished and need replacement  ?..

Our Swan has a fridge, battery, HWS all on the opposite side so if anything, it leans in that direction - not the side of the bag awning.  Does seem odd.

Ours is the same as yours.  Definitely leans away from the bag awning. Ours has the air con so we have to rope and peg the four corners anyway so I just adjust the ropes to square everything up.

I cheat a bit and place some extra tension on the drop down jacks on that side.  Seems to work well without doing any damage to them.

My suggestion would be to go back to the dealer and contractor with a big box of tissues and suggest they wipe away all they BS they're dribbling.........

There must be some ulterior motive to suggest that.

I have a bagged awning and I peg it and pull tight and its never been a problem.
Mind you I have started using some safety poles (2 x metal bars cut to length with rubber stoppers on the end) that I stick in with the canvas flap that goes over the lifting gear.
I had the bracket on the winch plate let go after the nuts rattled loose.
(It was on an arduos outback trip so they can be forgiven.) I fixed that by putting nylock nuts, spring washers an loctite. I'll be cutting them if I ever need to undo them.....

Thanks for the replys chaps...In answer to a couple of questions. 1.Yes it only leans to the Bag awning side 2.Yes we have A/C.
 It is definetley a problem with the upright poles as one is at very weird angle
.I'm flying out for 3 weeks tomorrow but have booked it in for repair  when I get back ...will keep you all informed of any outcome..

No just the roof ..that's why I'm not buying the rubbish about it being normal... I'll try to post some pics..

I don't believe so as its a brand new camper....more likely the lifting posts are bent or not square..

Did you discuss this directly with Jayco or through the local (I assume Perth) dealer?

With my camper issues, I found that the authorised Jayco repairers are usually the best at diagnosing (explaining) what the problem is. In my experience, the dealer palmed me off pretty quickly.

I think they are having a lend. Mine is an 03 with a bag with no issues. 

It sounds like you may need to adjust the lifting cables.  These can be found under the front seat behind the storage area. Access is pretty easy via the removal of a few screws.

x2 with level roof adjustment assuming no bent tele arms and you'll find those varied thread lengths on the individual cable adjusters are typical when every corner is even height. Another tip is to check the 2 rear tele cables running over the wheel arch pulley(under the sink cupboard) haven't jumped into the same sheave like mine had when I got it. That's why jayco recommend tensioning the cable system lightly once you've locked the roof down so the cables aren't shaking around travelling.
