Lining Camper Trailer Floor

Hi All,

On recent trips I have cracked two plastic containers. Does anyone line their camper trailer floor with rubber matting, carpet etc and does this protect contents a little better?

I have lined my floor, sides and bed base with the thick auto carpet from bunnings. Not sure if it has protected anything yet, but I have found that everything is easier to slide in and out and no drafts in the trailer now. Also much quieter to sleep in. ( as tested in the back yard lol )

I don't think lining will make a huge difference by it can't hurt.

I am going to use the marine carpet you get from MCF to protect inside the floor.

Hi Sun Boy,

I'm currently using those perforated camp mats that everybody sell, works well.

Bunyip and LB gave us some marine carpet that they weren't using. I haven't had time to install as yet. The piece is big enough to do the two side walls and bottom, Yahoo. I still use a ice box. Has anyone has come across issues with moisture getting between the paint and carpet. I feel if this happens, rust could escalate with you not nothing to its too late.

I'm hoping that my bonus is better than last year so I could purchase a 12v fridge. I not hold my breath otherwise my life could became a lot shorter than I want it to be.

I have used marine carpet for years in the camper. That's 5 trips to the Cape and 4 trips to the Gulf.

No problem with the plastic containers. It also depends how the camper is packed.

When we had a soft floor we lined inside the storage part of ours with Marine Carpet from Bunnings, cut it to size and glue it down and it's kind of like a factory job.
I think it helps stop things sliding around mainly.
I still use a few cut offs around the house (mats on the patio etc) it's quite easy to vacuum and doesn't let a lot of dirt through to accumulate underneath (surprisingly). Good stuff!

Marine Carpet from Bunnings as well. We've not glued ours down tho, cut to fit perfectly and it can then be removed and hosed for cleaning ( if necessary ) later on.  No issues with things moving around if packed properly.  Works well for us.

I think its more the fact Plastic containers are brittle as fine bone china glass these days more than marine carpet, 4inches of foam and a bladder of water could save.

Lined the CT with marine carpet, did not glue it(have pulled it out and washed after a desert trip where I didn't adjust the doors ) and try not to buy plastic container which are brittle.
