The Darwin 4WD, Caravan & Outback Camping Expo
« on: May 10, 2013, 11:18:42 PM »
Who will be coming to The Darwin 4WD, Caravan & Outback Camping Expo?

It's on this weekend, Saturday 11th – Sunday 12th, May 2013 at the show grounds and the Darwin Topend 4WD club will have a stand there, right down the back of the oval -- Was there late this afternoon to help set up..  so over the weekend come over, check us out, and say hello.

So far looking at what I have seen of the setup The Expo looks pretty good..  I know that our club is there, as well as the Toyota Land Cruiser Club, could be other clubs there as well.  Plenty of campers there, and caravans...  Just had a quick look around (being a stickybeak) plenty of LED lights, recovery gear  by the look of it.  I guess it could be a little dangerous to wallet that's about all  :D

To those going to the show, if there is  a mob called Brumby Campers, selling CT's, could you have a look over the quality or lack of their campers for me please.

I have a friend who has one and has no problems. I have a an Ezytrail hardfloor and would have bought a Brumby one if he was selling them here 12 months ago. What I can tell you both probably come from the same factory OS. There are many similiar ones being sold in other states and are exactly the same. The main difference is price and the if the seller will admit where they are made.

As for quality comparing it to my EzyTrail, They are a cheap trailer and you get what you pay for. I have had mine for 18 months and it has been to hell and back (just ask Cyberess above he knows where Ive taken it) and Im happy. I have done some mods to make it suit my reqyiurements.

Thanks PB.  Ihave ordered one from them and I am expecting it towards the end of the month.  Basically the same as their top of the range "4E" model.  I am getting ours painted in black not grey.  I am also getting ours fitted with independent suspension in lieu of ax le leaf.  I am expecting some major changes and round $2k to be spent on it to get up to our standards.  I am changing the cheap copied Treg hitch, cheap hubs, cheap shockers and making a bash plate for underneath just for a start. Hopefully I will get it up to a higher standard pretty quickly.
It would be good if someone had a look for me up in Darwin as I have only seen pics.  Thanks in advance to anyone who can have a look.

They look ok. If I didnt buy my Ezytrail I would have bought a Brumby. Sure they are no KK or Pioneer but for the price you can get a nice cheap  trailer which so far has been fine for me. I have taken it all over Arnhem land and beyond and the obly broken thing was a wheel bearing which could happen to anyone. Brumbys trailers look okay. The only thing I didnt like was the swing away arm appears to touch the rear corner. It may not but it is close. You could easily just grind the arm a fraction and probably will be fine. Not sure if the A frame is welded and bolted or just bolted. I must also admit I do know the owner of Brumby aswell. But  like I said I would buy one. Cyberess also knows him a bit I think.

Thanks PB.
The guy I have been dealing with is Tony.  I hope he is a good bloke as he seems to be pretty nice over than phone.  We have spent a lot of time on the phone to each other.  Can't wait to get my hands on the damn thing and start modding.

Great Day at the Expo  -- Still on Tomorrow  --

Since the 4WD clubs were putting on demos  -- I thought that I would place a few photos up.

In the center stadium they placed a mound of sand for us to do some recovery demos

Well it was a pretend bogging

The Damper on the Snatch Strap

Bogged it better than time  -- Demoing Maxtrax -- Tires Pumped up to 60psi, diff locks switched off, just for the demo  :cup:

Cyberess:Sorry for the Hijacking of the thread.
Muzza: Tony is a good guy.

Well done to everyone at the show. I only got to see the demo once. Looks like they finally got one bogged on the sand hill. A good show for Darwin which can only get better with more suppliers there.

Are we going to see the mighty Mahindra get a go?
