Long Term Accommodation in Brisbane
« on: March 13, 2013, 03:07:19 PM »
Hi Guys,

This is for the guys who know real estate in Brisbane.

I am looking at a job in Brisbane, however the family would stay in Sydney.

I would be looking for either a single room flat, or preferrably renting a room. I would be in Sydney on the weekends so really just need a place to lay my head of an evening.

Are there many of these types of places around, and if so how much would I be looking at? I will of course checkthe rental websites as well.

KB,

Thanks for that, please don't give LB any ideas.

Looks like I can get a single bed furnished place for around $400 - $450 a week, plus utilities etc..

Keep an eye out for a granny flat set up. We have a 3 bedroom home with a granny flat attached.

Ours is rented, but we have a granny flat, fully self contained right down from the washing machine/furniture/ fridge etc to the knives and forks that we rent at $160.00 per week.

Best thing about that sort of set-up, is you lock it and forget on weekends.
Also, with ours, we've set it up with seperate water and power and car accom, if fact, even seperate driveways.

They don't come up often, but they do come up.

Renting a room...... bit of a worry, unless of course, it was a swagger you were renting a room off.
I DON'T CARE HOW NICE THE HAND SOAP SMELLS.....

You should never walk out of the public toilets sniffing your fingers.

If you're going to be working in or close to the CBD, there are numerous options for single bed or studio apartments on bus or train lines not far out of CBD for under $400.00 per week.

Other option is to find a share unit and half the cost.

When I was seconded to the Brisbane office for 3 months last year I stayed at Spring Hill Manor (obviously in Spring Hill) a short walk to the CBD.

Dunno the rates (work was paying) but quite nice 1 bed apartments.

StrvnMrvn,

I am pretty sure it will be in Springwood.

Just getting costs together to put together a rate. Will be speaking to the agent further on Friday about it.

Even if it only a room you need try RealEstate.com.au or even google shared accommodation as they do list shared accommodation.  A lot come furnished so you don't need a lot to begin with, just a thought when just needing somewhere to sleep.

My brother is in a similar shared house comes fully furnished all he needed was linen and items for the kitchen.

Just a thought  ;D

$300-400/wk would be the mortgage on half the houses along the river these days. Surely you'd pick up a share place for half that.
