are the bolts short ?

just rewired/ replumbed camper which is a story on its own, hot and cold wires running into light swiches, all zip ties pulled to tight on water lines which cut refill and outward presure,
Now i notice the bolts through the shackles are held with one nut and spring washer , the bolt of which is JUST flush with the nut.  there is a poly sleve over the bolt which the whishbone moves on, on top of that it looks likes mild steel ?? how can i tell?
Does this sound right, thanks for any imput :cheers:

The bolt would usually have a minimum of 3 threads exposed from the end of the nut.

these would bet one thread short of flush, will replace or spot weld ?

I would replace rather than spotweld, makes maintenance and repairs too difficult if you spotweld.  :cheers:

The spring washer is designed to lock the nut ( if it's a plain nut ) so having three turns exposed is not going to help.
If its a Nyloc nut then it needs three or more exposed threads.
What type of nut do you have? At a guess it's a plain nut because of the spring washer.
Use some high strength Loctite Nut loc liquid with the spring washer and it will be good.

Some places that build things specify 2 or 3 exposed threads on a bolt, but only because it makes it easy for quality control to easily see that it has been done up.........for strength, it makes no difference ( nyloc nut or not )..

Why blame the bolts....maybe ya nuts are too big.
