« on: March 07, 2013, 09:47:34 PM »
My fello/fella myswaggers,Two days ago I was heavily involved in helping at a head on motor vehicle accident on a highway. We are in a remote town and the accident was in a place with no phone range,It's lucky the road is used daily by us mining personnell.I will only share that yes we saved his life, and thank you to all people who helped aswell as the ses, rfs, ambo and police and also very importantly the RFDS.All I want to say is please take care when your travelling, the journey is as important as the destination, have a rest if need be and slow down. Also try and have some sort of communications if your out in remote areas, stay safe out there and happy travelling.

Cheers seb.

Well said mate, I work in an emergency department, and we see some terrible tragedies that could be avoided with planning, and due care. Well done to you and your mates for helping old mate out, and getting a good outcome. Things like that can be hard to see, and hard to deal with, if you need anything let me know, there are services available to help............not saying everybody needs to debrief, but stuff like this can stay with you, and be quite toxic.

P.S.  Well done to all the emergency services ... don't think I could do it.

Mate, I'm a motorcyclist and it is ALL about the journey.  I've been doing a 350km commute for five years now and have seen all sorts of dangerous driving.  Most times the idiot who passes me unsafely is just in front of me at the first set of lights 100km down the road.  It's their families left behind who I feel for the most.

Good work and don't be afraid to talk about the incident you attended.  That's the best way of coping I have found.

We did Cape York about 10 years ago now and that was my first big driving holiday. I have to admit it wasn’t until I reached the Cape it all sunk in and this holiday wasn’t about just one point on the map, but the adventure of getting there and back.

That trip really changed how I now look and now how I plan our current driving holidays.
