Jayco bed fan/light - any good?
« on: December 10, 2012, 08:20:00 PM »
Just wondering if anyone that has the jayco fan / light can tell me if they are any good?  I believe you have to reverse them as they are designed to lift the air up instead of down. I called a supplier today and they reckon they're not very good, but would rather get opinions from people that have used them

Top.Ender, which dealer?

I was in the "Toy Shop" at Caravan Land Jayco just last week and they had them on the shelf!

Not sure how good they are just yet, a friend of mine bought on for his Dove but has yet to use it in anger.

I have them in my Swift and used them for the first time in Benalla two weekends ago. It was HOT weather and they do ok in pushing some of the hot air out of the bed end when there is no breeze to cool the camper.

For a small fan they are good for those hot nights.

I had a good look at the Jayco fan yesterday at the Adelaide Camping Show....it costs $50. Has two speed settings.

For the size of it, I think it does a good job. It has the usual clips on it for the bar above to attach to - in fact you can set it up to blow directly on you as you sleep or clip it in upright to push air into the main area.

Don't expect it to blow a gale - but for taking the edge off a hot night, it might well do the trick.

Had a look at them at the show also, they had sold out in the parts department, thought they worked pretty well so have ordered a couple.  Freinds with us ordered them for their Pinnicle Camper aswell.

Did you happen to notice the small evaporative coolers at the show. The $200+ pricetag was ridiculous and it had to point directly at you to get any benefit out of it, but may be worth a look if they can be sourced from somewhere else for less $$.

Were they the ones that looked like a cross between a smoke machine and disco light at a Blue Light Disco?

We have them and recently used them in 40 plus heat, ours worked well at night blowing directly on you, they were out of stock when I looked but they were kind enough to grab a couple of a new van in the lot.

That's them, white enclosure about the size of a large wine cask. They were set up right next to an exit, don't think they would have got many sales.
