Jacyo Awning and Annexe - Peaked Gable vs Flat
« on: January 24, 2013, 12:15:28 PM »
Swaggers,
To the seal the deal, my local dealer offered either a new 2010 bagged Awning and blue Annexe with a peaked Gable or a new flat bagged awning with second hand walls (tan from about 3-4 years ago).

If I take the flat bagged awning, I will need to spend approx $330 on news zips.

I understand that the peaked gables are more fiddly and less popular. I would appreciate any feedback from people who have used or are familiar with the peaked gable design.

I am probably leaning towards the peaked gable cause it costs me nothing, and I still thinking about a better annexe/awning in the future.

I think i know what you mean by gabled, but please confirm.

If by gabled you mean the zips run parallel to the ground, rather than flat meaning they run from where the awning attaches to the van, down at an angle to meet the poles, go with gabled. The actual gable gives you a little extra shade when not using the walls. It is a tiny bit more difficult to roll up, but not a whole lot.

Is this whatt you mean by gabled? the triangular section at each end??

Pg 11 of this older brochure shows a peaked gable annexe for a jayco.

I think that is the type I am getting.

That looks more like a gabled roof.. I have seen those walls, they don't look too bad.
I'd stick with new if you can. Unless you can see the 2nd hand walls before making the decision...

I have seen them both in a bag. The zips don't match for the 2nd hand conventional awning and annexe.

The gabled awning is new, has matching zips and is re same colour as the model in  2010 brochure link above.

I will get the gabled version.

Yeah, go the gabled, that little overhand on the front window, would be handy in poor weather...
