Looking for a decent mechanic in the Perth area (preferably northern suburbs, around Clarkson).
Our son in Perth has an issue with his 2007 ML Triton. It ran out of go a little while ago, stalling on him in the RH lane on a freeway in arvo peak hour
). He got it to a "reputable" workshop who replaced the SCV. All good, until a week later when it did the same thing. I have never worked on a Triton (or any other late model, CRD type engine for that matter) before, but between me searching on the net and him sending me photos of what he was doing we managed to pull the new SCV off, clean it out and refit. Ran like a charm. I suggested he replace the fuel filter to try to make sure no more crap was able to pass through the system. A week later (had to wait for payday) he replaced the filter, but now it wont rev over 2000rpm, or go past 60km/h.
We sent him a Scan Gauge for Christmas, but he has not been able to get any codes out of it. I have never used on, so can't really offer him any suggestions.
Hopefully the good old Swaggers might be able to offer some suggestion on where to take it for diagnosis in Perth.
