yes and ...not always!... ;D
Mine are on an angle as that was the only way to fit on my trailer & clear my pole tubes
I ditched the top frame in favour of a strap - but then I use it for water, not petrol, so I doubt whether anyone would be inclined to nick it.

I have only used plastic jerrys, so can't comment on how metal ones fit.
Couple of things to note with these;
Depending on rigidity plastic jerrys often bulge when full - These holders are a very tight fit when full.
Being a tight fit, you need enough space above to withdraw the jerry to almost it's full length before angling it out, so this would preclude some spots on some trailers.

Not a good view of it, but here is a pic - I have one on each side.

I've looked at these and wondered, why bother??

If someone wants your fuel, they'll get it. Covering the jerry cap won't necessarily stop them.

If they are prepared to carry a siphon hose and a container, it wouldn't be to much bother to also carry a battery drill.......... 1 hole in the bottom of the jerry, job done.....

By all means, lock the jerry into the carrier.......we don't want to give them the fuel and a jerry........

i had lockable jerry can holders on a motorbike trailer many moons ago.
But after a weekend where we were not near the car we did a run back to fill up only to find someone had put a nail through the metal jerrys and just had a bucket underneath to catch it.
I like the fact of locking so they dont get a jerry too but again as said above if they really want the fuel they will take it any way.
Yes i too am still looking for a way to secure my jerries for my up coming trip.
(Some of the security cables someone was offering is what i am now thinking.)
