Bush Fire Sunrise
« on: January 20, 2013, 07:41:38 AM »
This morning there was a most amazing bush fire sunrise for those that were up to see it . The Gippsland fires still raging are filling the sky with huge amounts of smoke , we can smell it in Central Vic some 200 odd Ks away  . Where are you & can you smell it to  ???

Last time I woke to a bushfire sunrise was 8th Feb 2009, the morning after Black Saturday, I hope I never see that again.

Agreed, but thankfully to date not the massive devastation or loss of life. Keep in mind we usually see this type of fire activity in Feb not in Jan. I fear the worst is yet to come.

She must be one strong lady at the start of that vid to be smiling like that After what just happened. Touching footage of her holding her kids.
Hope it never happens again but it's inevitable.

This is some video taken at a friends place in St Andrews
About half a K from my house
These are spot fires starting  100s of them
Near the end of the video you can see a lightning stike left hand side above the truck

Tried our hand at fishing in the Tanjil River this morning. Very smokey up there.

Those videos were haunting. They bring back bad memories of that tragic day.

That sunrise is a bit too close to us. Less than 40km by road. 2 blokes I work with live in seaton. One saved his house the other does not know if the house is there or not.
