Can't comment directly but my wife's mother tows a small fibreglass caravan with her CRV without any hassles.  It is a full height van so more wind resistance than a CT.

We towed a haycocks swan with a similar year rav4. Liked a drink but no issues.
My alternative to cheap import trailers;

what is the rated towing capacity of the CRV?

I had an Xtrail in the past, which had a 2 tonne towing capacity (which I know is higher than most other SUV's of that size)

We towed the boat (which is 2 tonne on a very dry day) with that without a problem. Not the best for the running gear to be doing that on a regular basis (which is why I upgraded) however it works.

With your situation, I would assume that the CT is ALOT lighter than our boat so you should be just fine, I guess where you might start to have dramas is when you take the combo offroad, but only time will tell!!

The CRV's towing capacity is 1500kg.

It will do it ok, but as said, will drink like a fish if towed weight approaches that limit.

Have fun, give it a go and see how it goes.

Can't comment on the CRV but we just towed our CT (pretty heavily laden full of road) with our Forester 3 1/2 hours each way with no problems at all.

We had a brake controller fitted for peace of mind.  Fuel consumption went up to 11.2 from 8.8.

Just check you don't exceed the towing capacity (braked or unbraked) and watch the ball load as well.  Other than that, hook it up and enjoy!
