Day 7 - Wednesday, 1 August 2012

Day 7

As we didn’t need to rush off too early this morning many enjoyed a leisurely rise out of bed as the low tide was going to be later in the morning.  Before heading off we had to farewell Paul4Nat so we decided to announce the "Kid’s Fraser Fiasco Fish-off 2012", Natalie (Frostd’s daughter) with her whopping 40cm dart came in at 1st place and won an Alvey estuary rod & reel and also a full tackle box, 2nd place was awarded to Ethan (Paul4 Nat’s son) with an Alvey estuary rod & reel, 3rd place was awarded to Lockie (DaznBec’s son) who won a full tackle box and 4th came in Melissa (Frostd’s daughter) who also won a full tackle box.  As the Chupa Chups lolly jar had a perfect guess we also decided to announce the winner which was Leeia (Paul4Nat’s daughter) as they were leaving today we thought the family could enjoy some sugary treats on the way home.  However there were still the red frogs and jelly babies still to be won.  After a few photos of the winning fisho’s it was time to head off down the beach with the traditional rubbish dump run to the refuse point just beyond the Maheno where we caught up with Paul4Nat and said our final goodbyes. The group travelled with them as far as Eurong where we watched them drive off down the beach heading home.  We spent a little bit of time at Eurong with getting supplies at the bakery, souvenirs at the shop and not to forget all of the fuel top ups.  While we were here Ute 701 went to the local mechanic to see if he could help and would then catch up with us, as the mechanic couldn’t help Ute 701 returned to camp for a relaxing afternoon.  The remaining MySwaggers continued onto Lake Mackenzie which many who had been here before commented on the revamped car park now having quite a bit of space and the water level of the lake which was right up to the area where you could generally have somewhere to sit.  Yogi being his usual self was the first in, the water temperature was quite fresh and then a few of the kids had a quick paddle.  We decided not the venture to the other lakes as they were the same and you wouldn’t have been able to see too much, so we then made our way to Central Station for lunch.  Many were amazed at the rainforest and the difference in plant life as we drive through the inland tracks.  We soon made it to Central Station and many took up the opportunity to have lunch at the picnic tables and then ventured off for the walk along the crystal clear creek. Most of this area was once selectively logged and you can often see signs along the tracks telling you how it has been since it was lasted actively logged.  As the day was getting away on us after the visit to Central Station we all headed back to camp for showers and start getting dinner organised.  Around 6.30pm it was time again for all to come together to purchase more tickets for the donated prizes and entries into the lolley jar guess competition.  It was now time for the adults to have a bit more fun drawing the days winners but before this could commence Yogi and Amanda pulled out of the magic draw of goodies glow sticks for the kids, all the kids again were in excitement mode.   2 windup torches (donated by GLC) went to Frostd and Bugone, Welding helmet (donated by Smoko) went to V8ute, bottle of Penfolds Port (donated by Smoko) went to Nick 08 and bottle of Baileys (donated by Smoko) went to Bugone).  Before everyone headed off we covered the activities for the next day options were to visit Wathumba Creek to be lead by Frostd, Blue Track drive, visit some sandblows and Waddy Point the decisions would be made in the morning as we couldn’t head off too early due to the late low tide.  It was also covered when each camp would be leaving and it turned out tomorrow would be most camps last day.

My family had a quiet day this day , as we had the stricken Rodeo with only 2wd .
( thanks for all the offers of a ride , but we enjoyed our rest day ) .

Some early morning Dingo tracks .....

While studying the tracks and their directions and patterns , I saw this coconut with all the hitchhikers on it .
Made me wish it could talk and tell of it's travels ....

Once again the full moon made for some great sunset pics looking east ....
