Save Lake Batyo Catyo Camping Ground
« on: August 02, 2012, 06:26:53 PM »

Hi Swaggers,

Borrowed from a forum, that borrowed it from a forum, that borrowed it from another forum ... Any chance you would like to help?  He sounds desperately passionate about his camp ground, so it might be worth a look.  Alas, I'm in a different state, so would those a bit closer like to head out there and give us a Trip Report?

"This is going around the motor home forums..Apparently this guy is trying to save this free camp site and wants to get as many visitors as possible during August to prove to the council that is a good site to keep. I am guessing his job is dependent on it.

So if you are in the area and are looking for a spot for a day or two it could help keep this place open.

Hopefully he will still be there in October, if he is I'll check it out on the way home from Bathurst, work out well, can have  play in Murray Sunset NP for a few days, visit my sister in Minyip and stay Batyo Catyo the night. Never heard of it before even with my sister living a few k's away. Strange the grey nomads havent found it they seem to hole up in all those out of the way stops
Bet its not dry like it shows on Google satellite

Apparently it only holds water on average of 6 out of 10 years but that may change if irrigation water is redirected through it

Mandrake and GeoffA are heading to Teddington next weekend so an extra 50 Km won't hurt - might find a really nice spot - If we go we will take photos ....
