Wet Canvas Help!!

Hi All,

Can anyone advise how long wet canvas can be packed before any mould starts.
I went away on Tuesday to Friday at Bear Gully in South Gippsland having to be back for work Saturday and Sunday (yesterday and today) I had 2 nice days on Wednesday and Thursday, it's a great spot right on the beach, free too.
Unfortunately it started raining Thursday night and basically didn't stop, and as many around Melbourne will know, Friday was a shocker and got worse as the day progressed. Also I didn't judge my spot well when I arrived at the camp site (well I also arrived late and the good spots were taken and didn't move when I had the chance), so when I woke up Friday morning part of the tent floor was sitting on bit of a puddle and resembled a water bed. I hoped the rain would have a lull but it didn't and the puddle got bigger. By the time I packed up the water was ankle deep. :'(
I got home Friday arvo, but between work and living in a block of flats I haven't had the time or space to set it up again to dry out. I'm going to take it to a caravan park first thing tomorrow morning and set it up at a powered site and use a fan heater to help with the drying.
I'm just worried between now and then if mould will start.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Mate you usually only have a couple of days especially if it warms up. If you can set it up at a mates place or at your work, even if its still raining. Give it a good hose down with fresh water also to get all of the dirt of it as this can also contribute to mould. I would think about doing it asap even after work if possible. You don't have to do the best set up job, just enough to let the air circulate.

The fan heater may assist but is not neccesary if the weather is all good. Leave some windows open so you get good airflow and all should be ok.

That's a lot of water. I'd be looking for somewhere I can set it up for a few days and leave it up. Doesn't take much sun to dry them out but the forecast isn't looking good for sun.

Leave it at my place today and tomorrow if you like out the front. I will be home.

Thanks for the advice and Donuts, thanks for the offer, you're not far from me. But on Tuesday I've got it booked into Aussie Jay's to have gas struts added to the access hatch under the mattress, a pole carrier and other bits and pieces so will really only have tomorrow day/night to leave it up. I'm also working night shift Monday and Tuesday.  My plan is to take it to the South Werribee Caravan Park tomorrow,which is close to Aussie Jay's, set it up and leave it there overnight while I'm working, pack down again 10 - 11am and take it to Aussie Jay's, I'm pretty sure they need the tent open to do the gas struts, pick it up Wednesday and take it to my folks in Bendigo and leave it up for a while. Hopefully the weather will be better there but rain is forecast for the weekend.

I has the cooper packed away wet for around ten days last week, because it has been pretty cold of late you should be fine. Not the best thing to do but I had no chance to get it out and dry it, it only took an hour to dry once it was out with a good wind blowing
