MDC campers Reviews?
« on: May 22, 2012, 05:51:40 PM »
Greetings all,
Friend of mine is interested in a (Modern Design) MDC camper, Looking at the extreme off road model.
Anyone who would like to share their experiences and comments we would appreciate it thanks.
I personally am particularly concerned/interested in the quality and function (setup) of the tent. Understand the tent is made in China

Do you mean Market Direct Campers at Coopers Plains?  If so I have one and can share the experience.
They were good to deal with, and seemed interested in service on the phone. The trailer seemed OK for a gal dipped unit at that price, but the finish was a bit rushed/ sloppy. A few loose bolts , brakes not adjusted, swarf in the trailer, not a great dust seal, cheap tyres fitted, with steel jerry cans fitted the base hit them on opening, ( wrong side)  but if you have a tool box most of this is sorted quickly.  I am 2 hours away from the depot and didn't fancy two more trips in to Brisbane. They didn't offer to fix it, just thanked me for the feedback.  We don't use it a lot and I haven't broken anything as yet, the tent has handled wind and water, the only tear is where I jagged a corner and ripped it myself. the draw bar needs extending as everything on it is cramped to use.  First time buyer syndrome. It tows quite well, and overall, after a few mods I am happy with it. I have contacted other buyers and they seemed to have a similar experience.

I had a gal extreme and had nothing but trouble with it.  The tent tore at the seams.  Spring shackles tore away from the chassis.  They are very awkward to set up and fold down.  Have a look at Jimboomba Campers.   I spent a couple of thousand more for a good Aussie made camper and wished I would've done this in the first place.
