ipad covers
« on: May 14, 2012, 02:38:57 PM »
Hey folks. I just bought an iPad for my travels.

Can anyone recommend a brand or style of cover to protect it while camping?

I saw the iPad one from apple and it looks a bit boutique ant up to the rigors of camping.

Hi Paul,

I'd say look for a leather folio type case. These tend to be bulky but offer the most in terms of (constant) protection. Also look for one that converts to a stand for ease of reading/typing.

If it has a hard back to it then your iPad can double as an in-car entertainment system; by strapping to a headrest. I've done this and it's effective. Not pretty, but effective.

Other options are neoprene covers, but this is only good for protecting the iPad when not in use.

Also, I'd suggest a screen protector for the screen. It stop the screen getting all scratched up, even if it does diminish the clarity a bit.

Hi Paul,

X2

I got a nice leather case for my Samsung Galaxy S2  cost $AU5.50 posted from Hong Kong took around 10 days to arrive.

The seller provided a good item with speedy service. The seller has a bunch of Ipad cases,

When we get our ipad's we will get one of these: http://www.subtechsports.com/products/dry-skin/

Waterproof, dustproof, sandproof, and can take underwater photos.

These look good

http://www.lifedge.co.uk/

Dont know what they cost.

I have a STM case for mine. It's small & light weight.

I use a life proof for my iPhone in the boat & kayak when fishing but I does become a pain having to screw in the headphone plug all the time as I use it in the car to hook to the stereo.

Most holders for either the iPhone or iPad want the bare device only so you end up putting cases on & off all the time.

I'm also looking for a cover for an iPad 3 and thinking of picking up an STM Grip which is made by an Aussie company.

Also liked the look of the Belkin Cinema and Cygnett lavish Earth. There are too many to choose from!

Hey folks.

I ended up going with the Targus cover below. Not totally robust, but good enough around home.

I am keen to get one as well for when we go camping. One that will totally protect it from dirt etc

Thanks for all the ideas.

Cheers, Paul.

Switcheasy simply the best! Canvas, tough, durable, not bulky. I use my iPad every day at work and home and the cover is faultless. http://www.switcheasy.com/product/CANVAS_ThenewiPad

I also looked at these but was put off by the bad reviews on Amazon regarding the Ipad popping out of the case and the magnetic on/off not working. Maybe they have sorted the issues out on later batches though?
