Kids Bunk Beds - Oztrail, has anyone modified em
« on: May 23, 2012, 11:46:08 PM »
Yeh trying to think of the best way to make these Oztrail bunk beds quicker and easier to put up, maybe modifying the frames so they stay half erected and can be packed ontop of the main bed without to much bulk?
Any advice.

We just take the legs off (put them under the mattress) and store the beds flat on top of our bed.

Not sure the age of your kids ,,,,,,,,,but if small they will grow up and what my brother and sister-inlaw did was to get the kids to put up the bunk beds at every site. They tryed to race the clock ............from memery their best time was 3 minutes something.... They had 3 kids and they all had their jobs to do at camp setup time ......seemed to work well.
Life is to short not to...............

I reckon everyone who's ever owned a set of these mungrel bastard inventions has thought the same thing.

Very interested to see some ideas.

So far my modification has been to keep them packed up in the corner of the garage.

We found that if you remove the bottom legs the bunks fold flat and fit on top of our bed, I put some tape on the top poles (safety rails ) to stop them coming off. It now takes about 30 sec to set the kids bunks up with sleeping bags.

I was just hoping the canvas on it would stretch after a few uses and it'd be really easy to put up next time.

Bugger!! >:(

Hi All

There are some other threads on this.  We have he bunks from Aussie (now what brand are they???).  Here is what we do;

- top and bottom beds are fully assembled and made up (extra mattress / sheet and s/bag
- top bunk has the safety rails screwd in place and the uprights also screwed in place
- the uprights fold in underneath and the safety rails fold outwards so sit flat
- bottom bunk : the u shaped legs are taken off for transport

to erect:
- put the bottom u shaped legs on the bottom bunk
- grab the top bunk, fold the legs down and slip into place
- do up the self inflating mattress

BINGO!

we do this for 2 sets of buns as 4 kids.

easy and quick.....

Chris
