Been lurking for a while, great web site, friendly folks. Thought it was time to say hi.

I've camped in tents and caravans since I was a kid (still have my pop's old 1950's bondwood homemade caravan - don't use it except as a kids 'den' and a place to keep my beers cold - fridge still works perfectly), enjoyed hiking and just being in the bush/beach etc, then car camping on surfing and climbing trips in my 20's. Then in our 30's kids came along so we bought bigger tents and more gear for car camping and then an on-site caravan at Nth Durras on NSW south coast a few years back (beautiful spot to camp up for a while btw). And then it happened, a couple of years ago we did a trip out to Uluru via Flinders Ranges, had planned to do Oodnadatta Track but rain and a hideous flu prevented us. Anyway, standing in the camping area out the back of the roadhouse (more like outback resort) at Glendambo, trying to recover from a 'country size' lamb shank meal, the bug bit me. We needed a 4WD and camper trailer. So we bought a new model Mitsi Triton (endless pit of money with regard to mods), which is a great vehicle to get around in. A few months back we bought a 2009 model Cub Brumby. Its a beast of thing, love it but have yet to get away in it, our plans to head out to Lake Mungo over Easter were scuttled for various reasons, but that's life - maybe next year, its not going anywhere. Will however be heading down the far south coast NSW for the Queens BD long weekend as a prep trip to get used to towing and camping out of it, see what we need, don't need etc. Then we'll do a trip out to SA middle of the year, Waukaringa, Arkaroola, Lake Eyre, Strzlecki Track, Innamincka, Cameron Corner, and back through Menindee, Willandra. Really looking forward to it. Next year, the Cape. After that, a trip up the Savanah Way to NT and over to WA. Have come a long way from my youth tramping around the Blue Mountains with a pack, sleeping bag and Trangia cooker. Sure have accumulated alot of stuff. Anyway. Where to next? Riguez
