Underpinning

Hi all
I need some quotes on underpinning and or reblocking a concrete driveway in Melbourne. Does anyone out there know anybody who does this sort of work? Thanks

Hi,
   I can't remember the name of the firm - something like terrateck or similar. They arrived in a 15 ton truck with a shipping container on the back, ran some high pressure hoses to the concrete slab, drilled some holes in the slab, set up a laser level, and forced an expanding foam under the slab till it was level.
$700 job minimum, then some extras.


Easiest way to get it done in my opinion.

Thanks for that, our engineer friend suggested expanding foam. I'll look them up.thanks

I used Uretek (expanding foam) to underpin the front of my house 18 months ago.

Much less expensive than traditional underpinning, and much less mess and fuss (e.g. traditional underpinning requires a building permit, expanding foam only needs one if the expected expense is greater than $12,000).

Another advantage (quite relevant to your case) is that expanding foam can lift, where I understand traditional underpinning requires jacking to be done at extra expense.

How'd it go in my case? My place was quite far gone, so they weren't able to completely close the gaps, but other than that I'm very happy ... 18 months on there's no sign of movement.

I typed in expanding foam and came up with Uretek. I had a quote today from a couple of guys who donunderpinning, No nationality  mentioned of course. They were there for ten mins top. 44000 please. So I told them I would be in touch of course. I have a concrete driveway and and the dirt/gravel is washing away underneath and as a result loosened my retaining wall which abbuts the driveway. I will wait for my engineer to see if Uretek will work in my case. Trouble is if I remove the retaining wall which has to be replaced all the exsisting driveway will fall out. Oh well the engineer will be here on Friday.

I had engineer come yesterday and he will contact Uretech to have a look. He doubts they will be suitable but hasnt dismissed the idea. Thanks guys.
