Anyone care to comment on Customline Campers ???
« on: March 16, 2012, 11:42:10 AM »
Looking at these campers and their prices I've been very impressed especially with the quality and workmanship. Could any Customline owners give me their opinion on these trailers and the pros/cons as they have found them. I've found for around $15K you can get the works burger on the Offroad Delux model so I am very keen to hear from anyone with one especially one of the later/new models. Photos if you have any of yours can be added if you can and appreciated.
Cheers all.

Hi Tractor88,

I've had a Deluxe Offroad Customline for a little over 5 years and I haven't had any trouble with mine. As far as I can tell the trailer design hasn't changed in this time but the tent has changed slightly. IMHO they are a great Aussie made camper, very sturdy and their canvas work is fantastic.

If you after photos check out the classified section on the forum my trailer is up for sale and I have quite a few pictures, otherwise search for Customline in the My Camper section you will find quite a few threads.

Good luck with your search.

Hi Tractor88

I cant comment on the trailer but I can on the Tent, as I used a Customline 9ft Khaki tent on my camper build.

The quality was second to none. As you may know they only use 100% Australian Wax Converters 15oz canvas for the roof and walls, all built in house. We had ours optioned up with 2nd door to drawbar, Windows on both drawbar and annex side, & breezeway. Also have the full canvas and screen annex wall kit with windbreak.

Why did I choose the Customline - Because they were all Aust made and built in house, Used Wax Converter Canvas, I was able to get the provisions put on during manufacturing so I could add more options to it as I could afford them (Tropical roof & extra room), I liked the bed base where they used zinc sheet as the base with RHS frame with only the marine ply used in the center to hold the mattress, Where other manufacturers use only marine ply on a rhs frame that is subject to the debris from out side and wet rot etc.

So far Ive had no issues at all with service or quality, very happy with the product.

Only thing I wish I did was perhaps swap the postion of the door and windows on both annex side and drawbar side to allow a stretcher bed to be placed against the large side wall.

Bnk

Hey there tractor 88,
i have just bought a customline CT, pick up early April.
So far we are happy with the service and we went to check it out and i'm in love.
We bought Customline cause its was Austaralian Made trailer and canvas, really good prices and you can get all the extras or just what you need.
once we pick her up i will post more photos, however everyone i spoke to had nothing bad to say about them.
John from Melbourne has been great and really helpful....

At the camping show i went to check them out and it is just a really nice CT, great tropical roof and the kitchen is big and a great usable space.

I have this week dropped my trailer off with them to have a custom made 10' tent fitted. I looked at 4 other makers before going with them and they have lots of extras you can add and my mates has a "hand me down" from his dad that's over 12 years old and still going strong

We just picked up our customline camper tent yesterday!!! The quality is fantastic, very heavy 15oz walls and roof. I like the idea that basically, we will never have to upgrade if we look after this one. Buy right, buy once!!!

Thanks so much everyone for your comments. That was great as I didn't expect to get them so quick! Must be a very good trailer from the response so far. Think I'll put in an order for one as soon as I sort out the accessories list. Must say that for the price its hard to go past. Cheers again for all the comments.

:D Hi Tractor, we've got a 2009 12 foot deluxe off road.  I've had a few issues, still waiting on a response on one 18 months later  ::) but haven't pushed the issue either.  With Trackabout gone I would look at them again.  I would go the storm covers on the drawbar windows, the zipper bit for the drop area, and the spare on the back, I think they're options now. There has been some definite improvements in the last couple of years, especially with the options and attitude to customers.

The canvas has been good and fairly easy to erect.  The trailer has had some work to make it suit our needs, I think he's got serious on the QA side there now.

They definitely tow well (even before the springs, bigger axle and brakes etc), but mine was fairly heavy on the ball from factory.

The springs sagged again so had the redone with larger hangers and axle moved forward to help with ball weight a month ago
