Aussie spirit is unique. Good on you Speewa.
I'll echo his sentiments if I may.

Now Speewa, I'm really sorry to hi-jack this, but I read reports that there were people falsely collecting for the SES............
Makes my bourbon filled blood boil >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

These oxygen thieves should be hung drawn and quartered.

Sick besterds!!!! A lot of us are happy to help in the good old aussie spirit, but this is just plain sick.

I also wish you all well and hope you find stability soon.

Best wishes
Brian

We just drove down from Bris to Melbourne on the inland Newell Hwy route and are currently at Seymore near Melbourne.
When we got to Parkes on sunday the Newell Hwy was closed by flood between Forbes and West Wyalong and about to get worse with more closures. We didnt want to get stuck there so we turned left at Parkes and headed to Young via Canowindra and Cowra.  We were lucky to get through that way as the Cowra/Young road had only just reopened. Lots of damage to roads and train lines.
We then finished the trip easily down the Hume. At Gundegai the river was incredibley high. There is soooo much water.
Our heart goes out to the people affected by the floods.
cheers

Plenty of dams overflowing. This the new half built enlarged Cotter dam is still going over since it started spilling over last Thursday night.
The dam wall is currently 40 metres high.

Excellent idea Jamie offering some assistance, we have to work weekdays and SWMBO is working the next couple of Saturdays as well but I could help out.  Being a builder I have a few tools and bits n pieces that could be handy such as a large generator, etc and a deep 8x6 tandem trailer.  Have you any plans of where to provide help or been in touch with anyone who is organising volunteers?

Post up some details whan you can and I will also ask around our 4wd club and see if I can get some more hands on board.

Been watching and am disturbed at the number of 4wd's getting into trouble including a couple of lost lives. A snorkel doesn't make a submarine. Take care if you are in the flood areas but keep away from water crossings please.

Bugger.... :(

I find it fairly sad that only 35 members of the defence force are assisting with sandbagging... surely theres a few 100 more around the place doing SFA that could be choppered in to assist...

I just arrived back from helping with the flood recovery at Mitchell. You can't believe what they went through until you see it. The nicest people out there, they didn't deserve it but they're made of tough grit and still manage to smile.
