Tooth Fairy gone AWOL
« on: January 31, 2012, 01:12:13 PM »
Well aren't I just the worst dad in the world...

Little Miss 6y/o had her 2nd tooth come out before bed last night and the tooth fairy apparently forgot to visit!  :o :o

I'm thinking a short letter explaining how busy she was last night, and putting a little extra in the purse may help.  What do you reckon?

Perhaps the tooth fairy already had her list of names made up and left on her run seeing as it was just before bed time that you daughter lost hers. Our kids get $2.00 per tooth and when they say such and such at school got more we say well as our last name starts with S we are near the end of the alphabet and the tooth fairy was running out of money. >:D

Perhaps the coin may have inexplicaly fallen from beneath the pillow and rolled over next to the skirting board, to be found by a cool dad after skool?

Sometimes when Dad gets up early to go to work he disturbs the Tooth Fairy and she needs to revisit the next night.  Happens all to frequently in our house  >:D

Tell her the tooth fairy (and Santa Clause for that matter) are just a load of made-up BS and she should be grateful she has a bed to sleep in at night.

Or maybe just explain that the tooth fairy asked YOU to pass on the $2 (or whatever) and YOU forgot and YOU are very sorry and YOU are now giving her the $2 and an extra $2 in interest.

Ah, poor POD, I feel so sad for you,no dreams, no asperations , no star of your own to follow, I know this must be true or else how could you be so unkind to a young child where the whole world and life is seen through rose coloured  glasses. The young lady will find out too soon just what s**t world we live in.
Tell the little girl the tooth fairy was/out of change/running late/forgot/etc and leave and extra coin and ask her to forgive the tooth fairy as she's very busy

The tooth fairy once forgot to visit my eldest daughter. We had a quick check and couldn't find it so I snuck out of the room, grabbed 2 dollars and dragged myself under the bed and amazingly found it...then she wanted to know why she didn't see it when she looked under the bed...managed to get away with it.
Then there was the time when a tooth came out in the pool and was never found....oh the tears, "what will the tooth fairy do now" but fortunately she still came and that brings me to our youngest. 5 1/2 and still no loose teeth and every day she comes up "daddy, I think this tooth is loose, just touch it, its loose". they cant be far away.

Cheers guys, glad to see I'm not the only forgetful culprit out there...

Anyway I'm off to go put the booty (plus interest of course) along with a note on her pillow.  Is it too much to mention the GFC as a reason? Could call it the 'Global Flossing Crisis'.  ;D

PS I gotta admit though, there's an awful lot of white lies going on out there by us parents... We'll be lined up at those fiery gates... all for the love of our children and not wanting to see them hurt. Brings a tear to the eye.

I hope all has been forgiven? A bit of extra money helps the sadness go away. The tooth fairy also forgot to come to our house the other night. My daughter had written a lovely note saying how the tooth fairy had always looked after her really well, and that she knew this time would be the same. She had the tooth neatly tucked in the special satin tooth bag under her pillow. She came out the next morning so upset, so we told her that the tooth fairy was probably very busy last night, and that we should leave the note out again, but this time somewhere more obvious. Worked like a charm. I was a bit upset with the TF myself as this is probably the last time we will get a visit to our house, and the forgetful fairy nearly ruined it all.

I'll let you know tomorrow morning. I went for 'paper' not coin for this one, that'll sure make me the TF not forget again.

As for the note I left, do you know how hard it is NOT to write in your own hand writing style??? I tried using the left hand but it looked like the TF might be suffering from Parkinsons!

Eee, when I were a lad we couldn't even afford a fire. When the tooth fairy dared to enter our house she would be mugged by my folks and her contribution went on the mortgage.

And if I told the kids of today they'd never believe me.....nope.

You were lucky! I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad and our mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah...

naugthy tooth fairy, it is probably too late but I wouldnt be going for the paper, it sets a bad precedent.

I had my then five year old telling me that the tooth fairy bought one of his freinds $20!!! WTF I thought, as $2 should be the going rate otherwise you will end up broke.

As usual I made up some BS that is must be a first tooth, so he got $2 and a gem stone (cheap one, not ruby or aything) instead. He was pretty happy with that.

the tooth fairy forgot to visit my daughter and was woken up by a sobbing child. I had to rush into her bedroom and find the $2 under her bed and mumbled something about must have fallen down and she was OK with it. That is the problem whe you have a couple of beers before bed time and forget.

It is amazing the lies we parents come up with but it is all in good fun and adds some magic to their lives as the poor things will have their illusions shattered at some stage.

I hope it all worked out well.

Yeah this story had a happy ending... like they all should.

Little 'Miss 6' even wrote her a thank you note back, bless her.  ('Master 8' has never done that.  Must be a male/female thing.)

Anyway back to watching Monty Python on youtube...
Cheers all.

The Tooth Fairy is officially the worst person in the world now in our household! My daughter lost not one, but two teeth yesterday. She woke up this morning and was moping around the house, and when asked what was wrong, said that the TF hadn't come. It was at that moment that both DH and myself felt like the worst parents of all time. Luckily she had swallowed one of the teeth with lunch yesterday, so I used that as an excuse and assured her that the TF was just waiting for the tooth to 'pass'. She said ok, but I don't think she really bought it.

The night before, she got out her special satin, tassled, tooth bag and placed the one remaining tooth in that she'd lost. She wrote a lovely letter explaining what had happened to the swallowed tooth, and that she didn't need money for that one as the TF probably couldn't use that one now, and that she just wanted the TF to know that she believed.

This was the second time the Tooth Fairy forgot to visit :o  I'd better go and write some reminder notes so the Tooth Fairy doesn't forget a third time :-[

100% agree.

One of my lovely dear old clients told me this since last time we TF forgot...
Tell her (or write a note from the TF) that its happening more often because kids are eating more lollies and not looking after their teeth, and they would really be helping TF out if they could cut back on the sweet stuff and make sure they brush for at least 2 mins, up and down, round and round and DONT FORGET TO FLOSS.

Little miss 6 in our house is now a model of dental hygiene... just hope it lasts.
