Thanks again everyone!
We had a visit from the Governor General today! What a morale boost! What an absolutely gracious and stunning lady, Quentin Bryce is. A friend who has a daughter with Downs Syndrome took an absolute shine to the "nice lady" and was even caught sitting in her lap!! For those of us who are aircraft tragics, the awesome machine of the RAN which flew the GG in kept us and the kids amused for the time it was here...how great are those Navy guys and gals to let our townspeople, young and old clamber in and out of that massive machine that is a SeaHawk!! Great PR, guys!
Tomorrow, I get flown out of Wee Waa by helicopter as I finally get activated for deployment to Moree to assist with aviation duties for the SES. I will be wearing my Rural Fire Service uniform however! I'm there for at least a couple of days.
Meanwhile, the water hasn't changed much, its still high and we are expecting that to be the norm for at least another day or so. Hard to say at this stage. We are starting to feel the affect on the businesses in town, we really do rely on our farmers to support our town and purchase their food and goods from us. I would say I've seen an 80 percent decrease in sales in our business alone. I sure hope that there is some sort of financial assistance for my bosses as this is a big burden to have to bear.
Otherwise...all is good!
