Q200 or Q300 that is the question.

After owning a baby Q for a while we are considering the purchase of a larger one for home.
I am tossing up which one. We have the mid sized trivit in the baby Q and find it a little small for roasting everything we want so I am leaning towards the Q300.
We do not often have big cook ups on the BBQ (Q200 is for 10 Q300 is for 15).
To compare apples for apples the Q300 is $699 including the trolly and the Q200 is $568 ($399 for Q and $169 for trolly) a difference of $121.

We are a family of 4 and like I said we don't have big BBQ's (that may change once we have the bigger weber.)

Interested to hear what you have to say.

We went from a q100 to a q220..
We are a family of 5 (2 teenage boys) and find the q220 big enough.. We sometimes have extended family ( another 7) and still found the q220 ok, but had to cook a couple of waves.. For xmas, we had a 4 kg turkey, and it roasted nicely in the q..
The only time I wish it was bigger is when we do pizza.. It would be good to put 2 pizza stones at once...
I think someone on this forum has an answer for that too..

Not sure you can fit 2 stones side by side on any of them.

Heres a shot of the pizza stone we use with the q220..
Unfortunately not pizza night tonight!

It would be used at least three times a week minimum.
In your situation already having the babyQ i would be opting for the Q300 just for home use and the baby for camping duties.

Yep I agree 100% Glenn
We also have the q200 but considering you can use the babyq for camping go the 300 :cheers:

The q300 with is extra few inches width would make a big difference, just ask my missus  O0

Please correct me if I'm wrong (I'm sure you all will anyway!!) but I think the 300 has two burners in it as opposed to one in the 200. My thinking was you could heat only half of the grill if required for more "intimate" gatherings.

I'm in a similar dilemma.  We have a Q120 that lives in the camper. The old 4 burner BBQ is on its last legs and WILL be replaced soon with a Weber.  We bought my son & daughter-in-law a Q220 as an xmas/house warming, and sonny-jim recommends we go the big one.

We went with the Q300 with the higher lid and temp gauge. Don't know if this is the norm now or not. There is only the 2 of us but I liked the higher lid. Makes great pizzas. It does have 2 burners but you cannot head just half. What they have done is add a burner down the middle so you still have the original burner around the outside. I hope that makes sense. I use both the burners to get it heated and usually turn the middle one off, depending on what we are cooking. Love that it doesn't use much gas.  :cheers:

Not speaking from personal experience but the guys over at the aussiebbq forums (my other hangout ;) ) reckon the Q200 doesn't get to the same temperature as the Q300, which can make cooking a rare steak a problem if that's your thing.

I reckon they are probably right too, there has been a few times I've noticed that.

with the high roof my 220 needs to be carefully located in regard to wind- that will affect temps- but the temp gauge makes this easy to monitor.

I would pay the extra and make sure it has the temp

maybe look to sell the 100 and get a 220- be a cheaper exercise in the long run? one cooker to do both duties?

I have the baby q for camping and the Q200 at home. From time to time the 200 is just not quite big enough.  If i knew then what i know now i would still have the baby Q for camping but have the Q300 for home duties.

Hi Crisp Image. I've got the Baby Q for camping & when we got the camper trailer, the Baby Q got permanently put in the trailer which left us without a BBQ at home. As we sometimes have people over, we decided to get another weber for home so went with the Q300 just for the extra size. Love it & am so glad we got that over the Q200 for home.
I think if you went Q200 for home, you would at some stage regret not getting the Q300

We have the family 300 and love it. Heaps of room, heats up very quickly and still fantastic on gas usage. Use it heaps. Sides fold down so still easy to roll into a corner to take up less space.    Kevin

I've a few hours to kill this morning whilst my Cruiser's being serviced, so it's back to the gas store in Atherton where I bought the Q120 for a little look-see.

I wonder if I'm brave enough to buy without ministerial approval?   :angel:

I called into my premium dealer today and they were sold out. Delivery expected today but all were sold. Another delivery next week so I will be in with a chance then.

I went back to the shop this afternoon to see one of the 320Q.
I now have my name on one and should have it on Tuesday or Wednesday next week.
Looking forward to getting it and Will post some photos when arrived.
I also found a pizza stone stacker that might be of interest. No good for the Baby Q but in the family Q it will be good.

Be interested to see the pizza stone stacker when you get it. I think you made the right move getting the larger Weber. When we bought ours at a demo the woman was saying people were regretting not getting the Q300 first up. Could have been a sales pitch as well.  :cheers:

Well it has arrived. I got a call at 14:23 and by 14:50 I had it on the floor at home.
I waited till Number 1 image was home from school before we he assembeled it under my watchfull eye. Camping is all about teaching the young ones isn't it??
I cooked roast vegies on it and all was good. No photos this time as I had to go to work for night shift.
Tomorrow night I will cook something on it for tea before work and will try to get some photos then.
