Has anybody heard about or own a Wild River Camper?
I've only seen an magazine advert on them,
They look a bit like a Jayco swan with a twin axle.
The ad reads
"The ultimate off road family toy hauler, features 6 berth living, king/queen/double beds, pull out dinette creates large living area, hot/cold shower/toilet inside,electric raised roof,outside hot/cold shower & BBQ"
They don't sound like a bad thing.

Wild River Campervans are in Taree and as from tomorrow they will have some on display in their new yard where Galaxy Autos used to be. Every time we go to Taree the agent has the Rockwood Toy Hauler on display at his house, we went to have a stickybeak last week but the yard was too wet. The camper looked really good on the outside.

If we`re in Taree tomorrow we`ll definitely check them out. They also build campertrailers however the Rockwoods are made in USA.

Thanks, I'd appreciate your thoughts.  They seem to tick all the boxes, but it comes down to build quality and after-sales service.

I reckon it is - the 282TXR Off Road Series I'd assume.  I'd be interested in one without the toy hauler on the front.

With the Aussie dollar the way it is I bet you could get one straight from the states without the middle man for less than you will get it in Aus.

I notice a few Coleman camper trailers for sale with the door on the right.  Not ideal, but not sure how much it would matter.  FWIW, the Coleman's don't look too bad, but again service and reliability are a concern.

Hi All,

We went to Wild River Campers in Taree today and spoke to Owen who is in the midst of setting up a display of Rockwood Campervans and Polymate Soft Floor Campertrailers. He is a very nice young fellow and has been importing the Rockwoods for some time.

The campers are all converted so the door is on the correct side, power to 240v and LPG to Australian specifications.
It is not necessary to have the toy hauler section. There are a wide range of options available. We were only able to see in one and were very impressed with it and Frank said they were very strongly constructed. I don`t think  a range of interior colour schemes is available as they are designed to be rugged and servicable, but I really liked the interior.

There is one king and one queen bed at the ends and the slide out dinette converts to a double bed. Also has a toilet and shower internally. Owen kindly allowed me to take some photos, hope you like them.

Thanks heaps for the info and photos.  I'll give them a call next week and talk about options.  They look very good on the face.  Did you notice what suspension they have?  I don't mind the version with the toy carrier at the back, but would still rather not have it at all.

I reckon they're similar in specs to the Jayco Flamingo ST, given the internal shower/toilet.  Have you seen the Flamingo, and are you able to compare and contrast?

I wonder if they have a manual override for the electric winder?

The dual axle models have ALKO axles and easy lube hubs.
Fully independent wheel suspension. I don`t know if there`s a manual override for the electric winder.
I think the options and conversions are carried out at Jacana Motorhomes which are located in Taree.

If you can`t read the specs. in the photo, let me know and I`ll list them for you.

Hi Ryangus,

I`m not familiar with the Flamingo but after looking at the floor plan I can see that the Flamingo has more bench space.
The Rockwall may have more storage space but as the sides are lower it does not have cupboards at bench height.
The stove and sink unit fold down when closed up. The slide out dinette makes it spacious.

As you can see from the photos some were not taken by me, Owen gave me permission to use some off his Facebook page. He`s on Facebook as Wild River Campervans.

Owen phoned today, and as far as I could perceive seemed very genuine. 

The Rockwood sounds like a good thing.  I'll be heading down to Taree maybe after a quick desert trip next week to have a look.
