Clayton's Hilux from China
« on: September 28, 2015, 11:25:10 AM »
Saw one in my travels. Quite good looking and wondered what it was. Chinese with Cummins and Borg Warner inside-

and interesting how the Hilux stuff fits-

There's no Great Evil conspiracy against consumers within engineering, manufacturing and supply. Just the many tradeoffs incurred to satisfy diverse tastes, priorities and wallets. But first comes all the insatiable Gummint eggsperts, nanny-staters and usual suspects.

I wonder if all that US derived running gear is made in china, it would have to be for them to sell at that price.

Interesting.  Price is pretty good and the specs are OK.

Terrible name though.  Still not as bad as Kluger...!

A local car dealer I know well was approached to sell the Foton. Took a dual cab for 6 months evaluation.  Found it was a pretty good vehicle, for the asking price.  Obviously built to the price point and was lacking in some areas. Anyways, he decided against taking on the local dealership because his research found Chinese built vehicles have almost zero repeat customers.  Down the track this will probably change.
