Pinnacle Camper Trailers
« on: December 13, 2011, 01:37:13 PM »
Hi All,

I've been doing a lot of looking online for CT's.  I've located Pinnacle Campers in Ballarat, which is about 2.5 hours from home.  Has anyone had any experience with any of their off road trailers?

And if so, what was their experience?

Looking at them online they look pretty good value for the $.
Take it Easy,

Barchy

I'm not on my main computer and therefore cant search but there are plenty of threads around here on pinnacle campers. The opinion from most of the owners seems to be that they offer reasonable value for a budget camper. There was one thread a while ago that was very defamatory, But as that member posted about their worries and has not been back since I would take their concerns on board but not worry about them too much (possibly an internet myth).

We have a Pinnacle off road CT. Only used it a handful of times but have had no dramas & are very happy with it so far. Search for Pinnacle on this forum and have a look at the 1 owned by Lowndsy (I think). He's done awesome mods with his.

G'day, We have had the Pinnacle off road ct for just on 2 years now and couldn't be happier, done approx 8,000k's of trouble free camping so far. We went for the Pinnacle because with 3 kids we liked the size. Check out Lowndsey's thread and also Mitcon thev'e done some great mods.

Good Luck

If in Ballarat you can also check out http://www.westlat.com.au/. Had a look at them and they looked quite good (for Chinese canvas), and seemed like a good honest character (ex boiler maker I think). Nearly bought a tent off him, but ended up spending a little more to get a locally made one instead. No not quite as good a bargain as it seems, only got the main tent and awning roof for that price, not the full annex walls and floors as on offer by Westlat, but at least it was Aussie made and fits my camper perfectly, instead of modding the Westlat tent to fit.
Don't really know if Westlat is better or worse than Pinnacle, but another option none the less.

we have there full off road powder coated ct brought new in march this year and has travelled over 10,000ks so far
trailer is very strong
hinges on the toolbox are very average
wiring is poor
canvas isnt very good
takes along time to set up even after a 3 mth trip its still to long set up too big
you have to get a larger site if you stay in a caravan park more $$$$$
cheap agricultale lock on tail gate
quick connect couplings for water and lpg failed after 6 mths
tool box leaks when it rains
slides on the bottom of the kitchen dont run the full lenght and catch and snap off
trailer is not sealed in the middle seam before the slide out draw is installed
no seals on tool box or front side entry door
cheap hinges and over centre locks on jerry can and gas bottle failed and broke on first opening
canvas has pinholes in it
cheap 12v outlet fell apart first trip
no grease in wheel bearings
the list goes on and on

save some more money and buy a new aussie built camper or
a second hand aussie made
aussie made trailer and canvas is well worth the money

i have spent 5g on top of purchase price on getting mine ready/repairs just to go camping

my next one will be a trackabout extenda safari
hopefully in 4-6 mths

p.s we still love going camping in it but there are much better units out there for that kind of money
