Last Xmas while stuck indoors in Brisbane due to the constant rain, we came up with an idea to take some time off work and travel around Australia and explore this fantastic country. The original plan was to leave in August 2012 and travel for 12 months, giving us plenty of time to plan, but has now turned into leaving on December the 14th and travel for 15 months, and when finished relocate to Brisbane. We went into this never having done 4WDriving before, not even knowing there was really such a thing as an off road camper trailer, didnt know anything about LED lighting, travelling with a 12 month old, 12v fridges and I can carry on but you get the idea.
Thankfully I came across this forum and although I havent commented to much, I read through the posts every day absorbing the knowledge that is available. The questions I have asked have always been answered, and with all the new members coming online, there is never such a thing as a question where newbies such as myself get rubbished for it like I have noticed on other forums, everyone is happy to answer any question which is fantastic.
Now after the 12 months of reading and asking questions, buying a 4WD and doing a 4WD course, getting our Tambo 2 weeks ago, building LED strip lights and fitting them into the camper this weekend, buying security cables from Garrick, a first aid course from GLC and buying all of our necessary gear, we are about to go on our first test run this coming weekend, with 7 weeks to go before we leave on our great adventure.
So this is a big thanks to everyone for giving advice and being so persistent with newbies and sharing your knowledge and experience, and once we get started I know there is going to be a lot of question coming from me, and then with some experience I hope to be one of the people that can then help out the newbies coming on board. Be great to meet some of you on our travels as we are moving around.
Cheers, Lyndon
