Charging Battery In Camper
« on: October 24, 2011, 02:14:51 PM »
Hi all :D

Have got a 120amp deep cycle battery in the camper, works great. Was wondering if I can just run a wire from my AUX battery on my bus through 6B&S cable with Anderson plugs to the battery in my camper, or will I need to purchase a 12V to 12V charger just for the camper battery?

Cheers,
Richard.

(Also thanks to everyone on this forum the contributions by everyone makes this website great)

Sure you didn't ask this question as part of some dare?  ???

Yes you can, but put some sort of circuit breaker or fuse at either end just before each battery.

I have the same sort of setup on my vehicle and camper, however instead of running off my auxillary battery I run off my main battery.  Seems to have passed the test of time so far.

G'day Rich,
On my similar setup I'm just running the 6B&S cable without any charger and it works fine for me...

PS I thought with a question like that, that you're a newbie. Just off to go grab the popcorn...

I was going to say I only run 6mm auto cable also and not 6 B&S, but no one would believe that could possibly work, and it would seem a little inflammatory. ;D ;D

Thanks people, I just thought being a Deep Cycle AGM battery without the proper charger it could damage the battery.
Anyway thanks people :D

At least you didn't say speaker wire Gunna... That would've been a 'Report to moderator' situation. :police:
