Christmas lighting
« on: October 08, 2011, 04:49:26 PM »
Hi all,
We are away again this year over the xmas period, & now that we have a camper trailer i was thinking about putting up some xmas lights for the kids. I was looking for 12v sets but can only seem to find either 24v+, solar or AA. I was wanting 12v so that i can wire straight into the camper lighting with a 2.1 mm plug. Does anybody know of any where that sells 12v xmas lights as i have tried big W, Kmart ect already.
Thanks in advance.

Probably easier to buy a cheap inverter.
One year when we went to tour the Xmas lights around Melbourne I rigged up lights inside the 80 Series running off an inverter.   (This was before the days when inverters weren't as common as they are now)   Everybody turned away from the houses to watch us drive by!

We've got a few sets of solar Xmas lights, so far have lasted well, minimum fuss & stay illuminated for ages.

I got solar ones from KFart that hang down like icicles along the front of the camper.  Pity they don't quite make it to the middle.  The boys were aghast that I'd even do that to them ...  ;D ... and they held up rather well through a hail storm.  I'll get them out again this year too.

Dual Purpose:  didn't need outdoor lighting that weekend   ;D
