Obriens campers no more
« on: September 08, 2011, 06:53:58 PM »
I know there is not many of us Obriens owners. But for the handful that are on this forum maybe be dismayed to learn Obriens has ceased business I believe as of yesterday.

I was talkin to a few people about the aussie business - and for several companies the show was their last chance...

apparently another well known place in Geelong has gone too

Edit: apparently it is true, they are gone and closedd. Maybe the chinese market is having a larger impact than people realise??

Wonder what he is doing with the collection of RZ250/350s he has :) :)

We have an O'Briens, I thought that they were doing OK, we were down there at christmas time we had trouble with a bent pole and they fixed it for us and from what they were saying, they were quite busy.

Someone I know has one and had to wait till they paid the tent builders bills before they would make his tent.
There could be something to that

That all depends on how much deposit they already had invested, probably better to hope for a completed job than to walk away with nothing and an empty wallet.

It's pretty tuff out there for most businesses at the moment, sad to see them go and unfortunately there are many that will succumb to it.

A lot of speculation re buy aussie, chinese imports etc etc. They may have used money out of the business for other ventures that failed, might have a gambling problem, might have had to help out a family member with medical bills or mortgage payments.

There are more ways for a business to lose money than competition.
