I have just spent the last hour hemming and installing eyelets into out shade cloth
I doubled it over and it works great it's the same stuff as CGEAR at less then half the price and you can make it to the size you need

Neither was I; hence the CGear. I found that the matting Ultimate provide tended to hold more dirt and muck when wet; which was a pain.

The CGear will still hold a bit of water when packed up wet, so don't leave it packed up for too long otherwise you'll find everything else soaked in water.

I had one made up out of doubled up & edged shade cloth with eyelets in strategic spots, and works fine for a fraction of the price.

We use a matted trampoline mat a wived one ,poles don't dig though it and if need to peg just peg through one of the little squares . Also can be pegged were the springs attach.

Doubled over shadecloth.  Water stays under it, sand falls through it and leaves and weetbix sweep off it pretty easily

Are the eyelets very hard to put in?
Our c gear mat is to long for the new campers awning and will be a PITA when we want to put the annexe walls on in regards to pegging the walls down at the bottom.

I  can weld,solder,grind,cut,chisel,hammer,screw,bolt etc etc and consider myself reasonably  handy but using a sewing machine scares the sh!t outa me.

Nice work! Great to see people having a go, it's really quite easy. Creating a tent from a roll of canvas is tricky, but sewing itself is a snack.

i do all those things too  completely renovated our house myself but the sewing machine is a piece of cake

Using a sewing machine is not rocket science - I mean even women use them 

I make most of my own light weight hiking gear with mine

I just used a standard machine
Shadecloth is full of holes so it's not that hard on the machine

Not sure what its got to do with electrical, but, .....I use grass.......and if there isn't any, I use dirt...

Yep, we also use this flooring system.  It's cheap and cheerful.  We have car carpet on the hardfloor and mats outside to rub our feet on.  It keeps the crap out of our bed.

I use an Elna princess, only has 4 stitches.
I sew a lot of sylnylon with a walking foot to make it easier.
When I need to sew webbing on I turn the machine by hand so as not to break the needle.
I only use standard needles and polyester thread as it doesn't hold water.
I have just used this combination when making shadecloth bags for my Kayak.
Running the machine by hand I have been able to sew 3 layers of seatbelt material to make a pouch for my titanium tent pegs

We use a C Gear Annexe Mat, IMO the best annexe flooring you can get.
Any dirt or sand falls back through the mat always leaving your annexe floor clean.

If you have a look at the CGear website it might help to explain it to you.

The CGear mattign doesnt allow anythign to come back up from the ground through the mat. But allows water, sand and fine dirt to fall through, leaving you with a clean floor.

I miss the industrial sewing machine I had in the shed.
It went back to its owner a little while ago.
It would only sew 8 layers of canvas.
I needed a bigger crowbar in it but needed to replace the needle bar to do that.
I learnt to sew as a teen cause mum would not fix my jeans any more.
I had the original acid wash jeans but battery acid was not the best acid to use.
