Changes to Tangalooma Island Resort's Casual Visitor Policy
« on: November 27, 2015, 02:56:46 PM »
Hi there,

From 1 December 2015 Tangalooma Island Resort on Moreton Island will require all casual visitors will need to have pre-booked a (free of charge) 'Casual Day Visitor Pass' to be granted access to the resort property. This pass allows us to get a better handle on guest numbers so we can provide adequate staffing and facilities for all guests of the resort.

The purpose of this policy change is not to prevent people from the camping, fishing, or boating communities of Moreton Bay from visiting the resort. All we are wanting to do is to put in place a few measures so we can better manage guest numbers more effectively to provide adequate staffing and facilities for all guests of the resort.

Boat or jet ski visitors will have a dedicated parking zone on the beach which will be closed to swimmers. This gives our resort guests and their families a safe feeling when swimming at the beach, whilst motorised watercraft can have an exclusive beach landing area whereby they also feel they are not hindering people swimming out the front of the resort. 4WD parking will also be available as per normal.

To avoid disappointment upon arrival, we are encouraging all members of SEQ boating, camping, and watersports communities that frequent the resort to familiarise themselves with this policy change here http://goo.gl/mQvPRF

Regards

Tangalooma Island Resort Management

Bit of a pain if you were just driving around and wanted to pop in.
I wonder how they will police it?

Was camping on the Eastern beach earlier this year and we decided to head over to the resort for dinner and Friday night footy.

The place was empty except for a few backpackers enjoying the free wifi. We had some great pizzas and numerous jugs of beer and enjoyed a great game of footy.

At about 8 o clock we were told by the bar staff that the bar was for hotel guests only after 6.30pm. They at least had common sense and continued to serve us and we continued to put money over the bar as by this stage the place was empty.

I still can't believe that anywhere would have a rule like this. I doubt I'll be rushing back anytime soon and I suggest you take a look at this policy.

Your new policy of having to pre book to visit sounds just as crazy.

I'll do without Tangalooma resort!

Andy

It seams Tangalooma aren't out to make friends, " no friends in business" so they say.
Been going around on every forum posting their changes, with the average reaction of, "well we won't bother coming anymore".

Last time we were there we walked up bare.....island holiday.  Went to get our third round of beers and was refused service......fair enough I thought as it was probably a stupid hotel law...and the girl was probably just doing her job.

Tip of the day, wear at least thongs.

We were camping for a week
Decided to spoil the wife and kids with a resort feed drinks etc

Do you think we could find a   Car park close

That might be another idea, provide casual parking, you are doing it for the boats and jet skis

As for the pass not that big a deal, although does that then allow access to the dolphin feeding- another big disappointment for the kids, as campers not being allowed in

Cant say I will be returning fast, the Rennos they have done ,give it an airport departure lounge feel with ply ceilings and bright white lights, it has lost its mojo, just has a very commercial feel about it,better if the Whaler bar was up the front instead of hidden away out the back, think I might just pack another carton and stay at camp, saying that, the Gutter Bar At Kooringal still does a killer seafood platter and plenty of brown lemonades in stock and thongs/shoes are optional and you don't need a letter from ya mum saying your coming.

Geez, cut the poor buggers some slack.

They've made a change for a reason.
Its not something they just did to annoy everyone and sundry and let everyone know by putting it on social media.

Give it a whirl, it might work out fine.
Look, it could all turn to crap too, and you might see the action reversed if it does.

Running a business means making decisions and sometimes they good and sometimes, not so much.

So, before you throw all the toys outta the cot and start crying, let the change run its course....  :D

We always enjoyed Tangles, be it by the flyer or when we use to take our own boat over there and spent some relaxing times, overlooking the water, watching the sunset against Brisbane.

I DON'T CARE HOW NICE THE HAND SOAP SMELLS.....

You should never walk out of the public toilets sniffing your fingers.

had a great feed of delicious big prawns last visit to Moreton at the Gutter Bar, will certainly get my business again in the future....and as you say, no need to get dressed up and don't need a letter to get you in there.  :cup:
