Newbie from Perth
« on: May 27, 2011, 12:16:45 AM »
Hi , I thought it was time to reveal myself after reading so many posts and admiring so many campers and their passionate owners.
This is a great site full of super friendly people.

My name is Neville (Nev). My wife and 2 kids, ages 6 and 10, have done a bit of camping over the last couple of years through a borrowed camper trailer (Albany Camper) and the 8 man tent.

My wife is keen to upgrade to a Jayco O/B and I want a proper offroad camper so we can reach some special campsites and be self sufficient. Both/either require some serious pennies, oh and space at home to put it.

In the interim we will continue to live our dreams through this forums users and plan for one day to do the same.

Whoosha, welcome to Myswag.

We stretched our budget when we bought our secondhand camper, and have been glad we did ever since.  Many memorable family trips under our belt now and still enjoying it.  Worth every cent.

Your lucky to have a camper you can borrow whilst making the decision on which one to buy.

Just remember if you buy a heavier duty off road capable camper it will be just as good on the bitumen as the dirt, however if you buy a bitumen based camper it will struggle on the rough dirt.

Work out where you really want to take your camper and where you will reallistically take it, and base you decision on that.

Welcome woosha, check my Jayco build thread, it may be an option that allows you to get something that suits both you and your wife all within a budget.  in the mean time, stick around and try and attend a WA get together, some great people here in the West ;D

Hi and welcome Whoosha, you might have to try hiring some different campers to reach a compromise. Good luck in your search.

G'day & Welcome.

I think you'd be surprised how much camper you can buy, for less than you think. But it's still money, so I hear ya.

Enjoy reading, rent a couple, and talk your wife around.
