i decided on the 78 litre ARB fridge, left a deposit on it and will will pick it up closer to the camper trailer being finished.
Nice work Silvo! I've only just seen this, otherwise I would have chimed in with a vote for the ARB.
We've got the original 47L, and find it a great fridge. I'm sure you'll be happy with it. For us, it was the little things that the ARB did that swung us that way - the easily detachable lid, the internal light and drain plug, the flush-mounted condenser - all those things. I've no idea how the bigger one performs battery-wise, but I would expect it to be on par with the rest of them. Realistically, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the main fridge brands, but we're more than happy with the ARB.
There are times I'd like a freezer - mainly for frozen veggies actually. But icecream would also come in handy
. I plan to solve this problem eventually with the acquisition of an additional ARB 35L (or similar/smaller) dedicated fridge that I can run as a freezer when I need to. To my mind, having two seperate units each individually temp-controlled is a better outcome than the combi units. But I doubt I'll ever miss frozen veggies that much to make it worth the cost. I imagine two fridges would use more power anyway, although that's potentially offset by the fact that you're not opening the freezer very often, vs letting a lot of the cold air out of a combi unit. I do like the Nat Luna fridges in this regard - with their individual perspex covers over the fridge and freezer compartments or, on some models, individual fridge and freezer doors.
I'll be interested to see how the big ARB performs - it's great that they've got the wider range now available in the two different footprints. Somethign for everyone.
Thanks!
