I'm in the wrong job!!!
« on: March 18, 2011, 11:40:14 AM »
Just saw an ad in a 4x4 mag for a new MB 4x4 Sprinter converted to a camper for....wait for it...$173,000 !!!!

Can someone please exlpain how a $68,000 van with a fit-out becomes a $173k camper?????

I think for an extra $105k I'd want a bit more than a kitchen/bed/awning...... Surely no-one is mad enough to buy such a rip-off?

Why not get a new Sahara and 20' caravan with all the fruit, it would be cheaper.

Rant over.

For a bit of luxury ... we did ... alot of $8000 in fact ... it's very good though.  Don't have to do much and we are home ... comfortably home.

The true value of anything is only what someone is prepared to pay.  Obviously someone out there is willing to pay more for there camping than most others.

A lot of retirees will sell their house and live permanently on the road in these things. So they don't think twice about dropping $200K on a tug and van or motorhome.

There is a down side to the super van , its hard to go low profile witha rig that stands out .There are so many places that you cant go which is so sad for them . We Detreg & explore  .
There is always the problem of service , what do you do when the rig is in the garage & parts are on the way , live on the hoist till ther arrive  or get a motel . If it works for you enjoy & good on you , for mine its the Black Pearl  for me
