Exceptionally so when the balance of power is held by three and elected politicians are so scared they make decisions based upon knee jerk reactions to surveys so absurd they could be written by three year olds.

Ahh democracy.....better than libya though

So glad we all took the time to be heard, and on a side note it felt good to give them a blast about loud/missinformed minorities trying to control the lives of the many,    beers

Maybe you should have put together your own survey and fought for what you believe in like the rest of us did.

They didn't react to the survey but rather the number of people that voiced there opinion. I guess not as many people believe in the same ideas as you do.

It is dead for now, it will rise again.  As long as we have stupid minority groups that have a way of getting in the ears of politicians we will always have this problem.

I remember this issue coming up back in the 90's, 20 odd years on, it still comes up, it will be back again.
Do not PM me for technical advice - start a thread.

A bit of Tongue In Cheek.

I used to drive a V8 ute with a 5 Post Bullbar swinging off the front, It was to hold my Bullights on  ;D Yes it was loud covered in stickers and lights etc.

I have heard about these ongoing bullbar debates for a long time.

It would be interesting to see the total Aus wide numbers who made their voices heard via the various State 4WD associations, I note the NSW & ACT Association has the following stats:

Basic Summary Of Responses To Bull Bars Under Threat Survey

I know mate, at the same time much of the publicity was along the lines of 'we will lose our bars', just not true.
I still think that the real 'risk' is with the insurance industry - all they have to do is decide that they will not insure anything which causes greater damage than the standard bar and it is all over anyway.

Yeah but the point is if they were successful in banning the new ones how long do you think the old ones would last. On another subject, Now we all gotta arc up about them closing tracks.

Barry spend some time on the European 4x4 forums and you will soon see these EU rules mean an end to the bullbar. Hence why a lot of people voted against it.

What a stupid bloody thing to post.  Did you put together the survey or just fill it in like everyone else including me.  Thats right I filled the survey in and if you bother to check you will see it in the thread!

I didnt suggest the changes, I didnt lobby anyone, I had NOTHING to do with the proposal. I didnt tell you or anyone else how to think any more than you did.  I merely took part in a discussion on a public forum with how I thought the proposals made some sense to me, AFTER it was raised.

I dont lose sleep over it, I didnt ring politicians,  I dont even think about it outside of the discussion and some 'water cooler' chat at work.

So dont throw ownership of it to me.

What is sad is that the decision, a poor one in my OPINION, is that it was not made on evidence, but as a consequence of the govt not wanting to lose a seat in parliament and hence the govt.

We are no closer to knowing whether frontal impacts are REALLY an issue or not.

What a stupid thing to post eh? Well that's the pot calling the kettle black.

I did read that you filled in the survey. Where did I say you didn't. Take a breath and maybe have a beer   but please untie the knot in your undies.  ;D

You may have had nothing to do with the proposal but you did voice your disapproval at how poorly the survey was written and how the decision was made by weak kneed politicians bending to the weight of public outcry.

My point to you was if you felt strongly about it as did the many Australians that participated in the final outcome, you could have voiced your opinions in a more constructive manner like writing your own (grown up) survey and asking Australians to participate in it so you could forward your data and turn the final outcome in the direction of your beliefs. I know realise that I was wrong, you appear in fact to not give a sh!t. My mistake.

I agree with you that the decision being a poor one is only your opinion.

The decision was made by our democratic leaders and the way it's supposed to work is that they echo the voice of the people. The voice of the people was heard in this case and the proposal was halted. You may think the outcome is wrong, it may even be wrong but it is what the majority voiced. That is democracy.
