hi swaggers ,
DISCLAIMER.... I HAVE NO COMERCIAL/ FINANCIAL INVOLVMENT WITH THIS AT ALL...
Well I needed another space case for Weipa next week to put the geny in ,and was prepared for the $$$ hurt but came across http://www.qtank.com.au/space_cases.php (http://www.qtank.com.au/space_cases.php)
These guys are a great company I have got water tanks from them before. But did not know they are now selling trimcast.
If you call em up and say THEO FROM MANDRAKES sent you the lady will offer you a further 20% YES 20% off the posted price .(which is still the cheapest price around.)
I bought the 550 x 550 x 450 and got prices upto $385.. Qtank had it for $220 and then I got another 20% off so paying $176.00.
Like I said I have nothing to do with this other than asking for a further discount and offering to spread the word for them if they could do a deal .
Hope it helps someone looking for a case.... They are at Brendale in Brisbane northside ..
Kind regards
Jetcrew
-
Awesome, if only they were in MEL as I need a few :(
-
Bloody brilliant! I too have a tank from them and would recommend the company.
Might be a good alternative to the standard small steel box on the front of the Lifestyle Extenda.
-
Best. Link. Ever.
These are brilliant boxes, am now using one for food and another on the roof rack. Lockable, waterproof, dustproof.
-
They are an awesome product I have used them for years and they are great cause when the boat is stuck on mudbank and we have to get everything out to refloat like MD had to do last night in his final doco I dont have to worry about the gear inside.
I have about 5 of em and have given them alot of punisment and they stand up to it well.
For intrest sake the 550x550x450 fits the honda eu10i ,my batt charger ,leads plugs lights ,spare oil,5 ltr fuel can ect in the one box. Makes it easy to grab and go ....
Jetcrew.
To find someone willing to give me the best price around and then further discount it was awesome.... I will tell the MRS it cost me more then I can pick up a few extra lures on the way home...LOL
Hope she doesn't read this :D :D
-
We use them as storage for our clothes, and they travel on the top of the camper. Never had any worry about dust or rain getting in, and they can be left on the ground outside the camper for easy access. We also carried another on the roof rack of the Patrol full of odds and ends when we went north.

www.e-go.com.au quote for two of the 1100x450x550 cases came to $50 picked up from seller in Qld and delivered to depot in campbellfield vic.....
-
I use these guys http://stores.ebay.com.au/OutdoorSalesDirect
They have a local depot that I can pick up from, and are the cheapest I have found...
-
UR-50-LO,
There some good prices there on that site except they are not made by TRIMCAST....
I do not know how good/bad these TRUNKLOCKERS ones are.
But If you have them and are happy with them thats great and they do look pretty good. I might buy my mate the pink one LOL
I was more referring to the best price for TRIMCAST rather than the best price for a storage box...
You got me side tracked though looking at eskys :D :D
kind regards

A great link by the recently departed brave man...RIP jet, was nice foruming with you. Well you will be a gonna once your misses get a copy if this thread

Hey Guys, has anyone checked the prices of QTank against ARB? I went to the local ARB today for a price comparison and they are almost the same, even with the Qtank 20% off. For example, the two I was looking at:
900x550x400 - Qtank = $272 ($340 - 20%), ARB = $270
900x400x400 - Qtank = $232 ($290 = 20%), ARB = $250
Might go the first one I think.

I got up to RIP Jet and my jaw dropped! I'm still a little shakey! I havent been frequenting the forum much over the last week or 2! But then I read the rest of the thread.. phew.
Isnt it amazing. I've never met Jet or even spoken to him, yet reading something like this post (or half of it) can have such an affect on a person!!
maybe its just me?
Oh well. I hope you are all happy and well!
Rossow.

I am now using one of my Trimcast Space Cases as a pantry, dust proof, water proof, lockable, plus they're a regular shape so packing is easy.
-
A good price indeed, though Glenfords Tool Centres had the 555545's for a similiar price when I purchased one the other week. Might be a good option if not in Brisvegas. ;D
Having purchased 13 of these suckers recently ::), i've been careful not to purchase some of the similiar brands as in some cases their sealing lip on the box is inferior IMO. I like the ability to stack them without the pile sliding everywhere, as some others don't seem to interlock at all. >:( With light gear inside, it is still possible to move them with one person due to their size.

Maybe us Victorian's should all get together and hit an ARB store for a good deal on quantity.
I just rang the local ARB and when asked for their best price on the phone was quoted
900 x 550 x 400 = $280 from $306
900 x 400 x 400 = $240 from $263
I am not quite ready to buy yet, but I will need a couple for the Cape next year. If others are interested we could approach them and haggle for a better deal.
-
I 'm still alive ...
I am up in Weipa on the run ! lures in hand ....
Jetcrew :D :D
-
Jetcrew Mate your running out of places to run to if your in Weipa . Where next ?

Its either me or the croc's that might get him!!!
-
You are in trouble now jetcrew. ;D
-

In AU the Pelican cases are expensive yet in the US they're cheap. I always buy 1 or 2 when I am over there to sell on eBay from Fry's.

I don't know if all stores carry them but they can order them. Maybe try searching for Pelican.

Just went and got this one - 780 X 380 X 380 mm - $139.00 - Should be able to get a couple of slabs in that :cup: :cup:
-
Nice work, which Bunnos? I got mine from Thomastown.
-
Hoppers Crossing - They don't have the full range - small cubes like your photo - the ones I got and the ones as big as most CT toolboxes ...
-
Checked out our Bunnings yesterday on the way home. All they had were the big ones (900x500???) for around the $200, and some REALLY HUGE ones that were on a pallet outside ($270-ish?).
They were labelled "Cargo Cases", but they're still not showing up on the Bunnings website. The guy I spoke to on the service desk didn't really know anything about them, other than the smaller ones were over there, and the bigger ones were outside. Which is a shame - I thought that a couple of the same size as Mandrake's above would be good as food boxes in the camper.
Ahh well - I'll have a look for them each time we're in there - they might just get random stock sent to them.
Cheers,
Matto :)
-
Putting that on my wish list, as I wouldn't mind one for my kitchen gear. The canvas bag I currently use is a pain in the proverbial.

T'was Bunnings Southside. I was going to take a drive out to Smithfield to see what they had on the weekend. Looks like it might be worth the drive then.
When you getns say "a fair range" - are we talking two or three different sizes, or a dozen?
I can see Saturday being an expensive day :(
Cheers,
Matto :)

Bunnings at Cannon Hill East side of Brisbane have these, out the back in the timber/plumbing section. Blue, Yellow and Grey. I got one same size as Mandrake's yesterday and can easily fit all my kitchen gear as well as two saucepans and a fry pan. Packed and raring to go, now if only this darn rain would clear off.
-
Cheers Bill - we popped into Bunnings quickly on Saturday morning, but the little girl had just fallen asleep in the car so I left it running (with the Mrs in it, before anyone asks :) ) and just sprinted inside.
The Smithfield Bunnings did have the smaller square boxes - Southside doesn't have them. They had the big (900) and huge (1200??) boxes as well, which Southside DO have. Unfortunately they didn't have the Mandrake-sized ones (as they shall now be known), which is the ones I was really hoping to find. That's OK - I'll keep my eyes open and if they get some stock in I'll jump in them then.
Cheers,
Matto :)
-
Supercheap also have some similar style ones in black. The large ones are about $240
-
I renamed the thraed so that we have a space case thread for searches in future.
jet :D :D

Matto,
Because I go past there on my way home I usually have to stop in at least once a week.
Now that I know which one you are looking for I will keep my eyes open for one.
I will pm you when I see them...

Just bought a 1100x550x400 for $247 at Bunnings. These are the genuine trimcast/pelican ones. So happy I might even get another one tomorrow. Just drove down to Brisbane from Central Qld yesterday and sick of covering everything with plastic. I knew it was going to rain the whole way and my steel toolboxes don't seal properly. Bagging everything up is a PAIN!
-
Quick follow-up on this one - Bunnings Cairns (South Side ) has the size boxes I'm after atm - they've got a whole pallet of them. Along with the bigger ones and the square ones.
I almost walked out with one of the Mandrake-sized ones, but figured I'd better measure it first to make sure it would fit.
* The good news is it will fit on the roofrack where I want it to go.
* The bad news is that with it on the roof, the car won't go into the garage.
So, after all that mucking about, there goes that idea into the bin :).
Thanks to Bill for offering to keep an eye out for me.
Cheers,
Matto :)

Was at Bunnings Cannon Hill Brisbane on the weekend and noticed that they are now selling this brand although not sure if these are in addition to the Pelican cases
