SECURITY CABLES FOR VARIOUS USES
I am supplying security cables produced from 316 Stainless Steel cabling which can either be plain wire or clear or white plastic coated wire depending on your use. The cables can be made in any length and a copper swage hold the loop in the end.
All loops are made so that they can pass through each other enabling you to be able to loop the end around a suitable anchoring point or use a padlock

Hound Cables
Do you have a four legged friend that you take camping and you need to keep them secure at times. I have just introduced the hound cable which in standard length is 5m long main line with plastic coated 3.2mm stainless steel wire with 1.5m running tether line which slides along the main 5m line which has a brass clip attached to one end with a double crimp for extra strength.

They look really good! I'd like to see what you would use a 305m long cable for!
I may have a slight suggestion for you, if you'd be interested? My old man used to make us up cables just like these as bike locks when we were in school. To stop the stainless rope knocking paint off or hurting the helmets, he'd run the rope through some clear PVC airline - kind of like a thicker version of what you use with aquarium air pumps. Worked really well, and was easier to handle. It certainly didn't add any strength of the cable, but just made it much more user friendly.
Good luck with the endeavour - I'm sure you'll have a bunch of orders in no time as I know if I had expensive solar panels, I'd want to ensure that they couldn't just go walkabout.

P.S. Just a tip, dont make the plastic tubing too neat on the rope as it gets harder to slide on the greater the length. Better to be fairly loose.

Quick question....do you remove the plastic from the coated ones at the end before swage?
Yes, plastic is stripped back to allow it to be able to fit into the ferrule on the end. The cable is 3mm and with the plastic coating it is 5mm.

I would prefer a plastic coated cable, just to eliminate the possibillity of the cable scratching or damaging anythin in transit.Looks like that's the way he prices them? Maybe so much a meter would be easier?

Hi Garrick,That would be possible, i could make a larger loop in one end and have the other end as per the photos above, the larger loop would not have the thimble, it would just be a loop of cable swaged off. Just let me know and I could make it up.

With the cables that i made. I have one Stainless Steel Thimble that is bigger than the another one so you can poke through and slide it all the way to the end this makes a loop then u padlock the opposite end
So you can use the full length
that way you have 2 ways locking the cable

A 1m length to tether the Engel to the trailer when off the internal slide and out under the annex open to prying eyes, and another likely 5m length with a big loop on one end to allow full length use for (future) solar panels.
Has anyone using these for panels found that a 5m length is long enough to get them away from the tent/shadows etc? I will be connecting into the hitch-point Anderson plug, so they'll be offset a fair distance to start..

Has anyone using these for panels found that a 5m length is long enough to get them away from the tent/shadows etc? I will be connecting into the hitch-point Anderson plug, so they'll be offset a fair distance to start..

The other thing to consider is how long is the electrical cable from the panel, no use making the security cable longer. Most I sell are 5m with the ocassional longer one. Order a 5m one and I will make it a generous 5m ;D

No panels as yet so just making assumptions. Your comment on what the majority purchase for that task is what I was after, so thank you. Will try and order tomorrow. Will make payment ASAP after receiving details; will require them by a trip departing Australia Day which I'm hoping you could hit.

Great cables Garrick. We put them to the test in the salt air for a week (<20M from the waters edge) with no signs of any negative effects. One of our brand new chains for the dog was rusting after just two days. Secured our panel 24x7 and allowed us to eek out every ounce of sunshine without having to get up early. Just had to remember to turn the panels around after sunset. :cheers:
Great news, I am glad they worked out well. I have sourced a small amount of S/S coated cable and will test it out in the coming weeks before releasing it to the masses, thanks again to all who have ordered cables.

I got my cables today. One SS 10m to tether the solar panels, one 1m to hang onto the fridge and a bonus 1m cable! I wasn't expecting the bonus cable, I thought that deal was probably finished by now. Awesome work, thanks Garrick.

Just a little story ,last week a mate of mine wa out for the weekend ,on his own , setup camp and solar panels put the security ss wire on the panel ! Off he went to fish ! Never heard a car or anything but when he got back to his camp the wire was still there and also the handle it was looped through !! As well as the screws on the ground !! He reckoned they had a cordless drill and did the deed !!! Ruined his week end no end !!! You would not want to be the guy he catches if there is a next time !!!

Garrick, how do the cables go if you try and cut them with a pair of knips or pliers?
You can cut them and if you have the right gear easily, as with all security devices. The main thing that these will stop is the thief that wants to take advantage of a quick grab, if they come prepared unfortunately nothing will stop them.
So far no-one has reported a theft while using the cables and there is over 3km of cable that I have made up all over Australia.

Secondly, goods and quality of workmanship is second to none. These cables are the bomb. The downside of these cables are that they are going to send the thieves next door so make sure your prepared and get some of Garrick's cables to protect yourself from theft.
I Will definately be placing more orders as the 'toys' list grows to secure the BBQ, solar panels, kids and my bike, canoes and so on.

I originally had the cable through the handle of the solar panels, but it wouldn't take long to snap it off. So I have drilled a hole in the frame, big enough to fit a decent sized padlock. I then lock the cable to that and around a tree.
These cables come in real handy for various things.
Yep my mate came back to his camp and found the wire still looped through the handle with the screws on the ground beside it !

My new idea for hound lead. One long length to hook around two trees. Prior to that you loop through a shorter length which attaches to the dog. Then dawg can run backwards and forwards without getting tangled around the tree.
Easy done, what length do you need??

Looking at gettin an aluminium tool box to sit on top of the CT. I need additional room for gear. So any suggestions re security? The tool box would sit like the photos. I would then secure the box using the wind up hooks. So I need to cable it up so no one can steal the box.

Last year after 1,000 kms of off road travel to Birdsville, the combination of corros and dust resulted in a broken key in a padlock. Given that I had been smart ??? and got 4 keyed alike, the boys and me had to sleep in the Prado until we got the locks cut off in Birdsville.
So now I can loop 2 gas bottles, 3 jerrycans and a solar panel while we're travelling and secure with one pad lock. I'm hoping that the "ring of steel" will protect the peripherals while we're away from the camper.

Guys here are some ideas:
As I have a 10mtr solar cable only I've found this a bit of an overkill for those times the site gives me sun next to the camper - and there is likely some voltage drop.
So I've just ordered a 3mtr solar cable to reduce the length when these conditions suit.
Also, GG was happy to take an order for a 30 cm length with exposed wires ready to screw into the solar controller (which is connected to the panels) with Anderson plug. Currently the wires are only 10cm long. This means I have to be particularly careful when plugging the Andersons in or out that I'm not pulling the wires out of the controller. My theory is that the extra length will give me some safety buffer.
Also - just sharing - I already have various length security cable from GGV8. Maybe you could consider the same or similar being multiple lengths for different applications.
10mtr security cable for the solar panels as I have a 10mtr heavy duty solar connection (helps keep the panels out in the sun whilst we're in the shade).
5mtr to the BBQ as we often set it up between the camps to share.
3mtr to thread through all the bikes/scooters and secure at night or when we're away from camp. Worked for us last trip as some friends had a bike stolen from their camp but not ours.
2mtr threads through the leg rope grommet to secure the surfboard.
1mtr to secure the fridge to the camper.
All padlocks keyed alike. The beauty of the cables is that they can be secured to the camper/car/tree/fence etc and with the eyelet can thread through and secure with the one lock only. Or hook them all back to the one spot with only one padlock needed.
Thanks again for supplying a great product at good prices and supporting the forum at the same time.

Many thanks Garrick for my custom fridge cable and the other cables I recently bought off you
The custom fridge cable you made is exactly as I envisaged when I sent you the details of what I wanting. It fits snuggly and not only stops the fridge being opened (and beers stolen) I loop another cable through one of the arms and run it back to trailer to stop a grab and run of the whole fridge.
Although the fridge is only a Waeco (I would never leave my Engel outside!!) it does hold the beers and other drinks and I am now confident it will not be stolen or subject to raids.

I originally ordered a 16.0 pack last year, loved it so just ordered a 6.0 pack - fathers day special. Ill keep the bonus gift and give the rest to my uncle for fathers day.

Last year we asked him to make some special cables for the van to make a clothes line between the awning legs.
Well finally installed them today. Fantastic. All the hardware was sent including the exact size drill piece to do the job.
The awning will stay fixed on as it sits perfectly attached to the awning.
