How on Earth did you all get out of it ???

I imagine that seeing / posting those pics was quite confronting for you. The event must have been dreadful.
Hope your recovery continues. No shame in leaning on people and asking for help. You have been through a lot.

Funny thing is I don't find it confronting , more interesting, and a lot of pent up anger against the truck driver for being such an idiot . ( and a lot of the farkwit word)
-
Glad you are ok, that must have been a big hit.
-

That tree through his windscreen looks nasty too... and your van looks bigger on its side then on its wheels..
RIP the van
-
Very lucky to get out of that judging by the looks of the car and glad you were on your own as i don't think any passengers could have survived that.
-
I hope you recover okay. That is a serious prang.
-
Holy Crap, buy yourselves a Lottery ticket while your luck still holds.
Hope you recover.

Off to Manheim in Altona tomorrow to retrieve my property from the van. Might be a bit of a bunfight from what the insurance company told me.

Interesting day,some good, some bad.
The good
1st hobbled in with the walker, checked in ,told where we had to go, I can't walk that far, oh well you can drive down then and we'll send this young man down with you and he'll show you where the van is and keep an eye on you.Oh and here's your hivis vest.Young bloke tells us we can take anything that's not fixed
Plates, towels, clothes, bedding etc into box's and out to the mates ute. Then into the front, small jack, sand pegs, ropes etc, portable sullage tank.
The bad
Missing/stolen/disappeared/gone. >:(
Weber bbq,$250. 1 cordless drill $45,1 cordless impact drill $110, electric chainsaw battery,(saw was at home)$200, 2 cordless batteries and chargers $100, and 1 almost new 120 amph/lithium battery and box, $260. >:( >:( >:(
All in all , not very happy, but nothing I can do about it ,just suck it up and get on with life.

Missing/stolen/disappeared/gone. >:(
Assume they all get added onto the insurance claim?
-
Xcavator, you potentially have a legitimate claim against the third party ie the driver who caused the accident. If you have details of his/her insurer - write to them. If you don't, contact your insurer as they will have it. Your insurer will be attempting to recover their loss. You need to explain to the TP insurer that you have suffered losses that are not covered by your comprehensive motor vehicle policy then document the items and the lengths you have gone to to recover them.
Under the circumstances (as I understand them) the TP insurer should be prepared to respond.
Good luck.

When my Ute was stolen, I could claim up to $1000 for missing items that were stolen.

Yeah, when I had a chat to the insurance company I was told I could claim up to $1k BUT I can do it up to 7 times , for a total of $7k , each claim has an excess of $100.00 :'( Yesterday I submitted 2 claims , more to go , so we'll see how I go :D
