As you, we bought a 2018 New Age Road Owl.
Fingers crossed this weekend will be our first camp, only locally,
My question is, does anyone know of a tie down, locking gadget that will secure it in the front boot tunnel?
The boot is forward of the Caredree roll out awning, the van came with a full annex, so a slide out won't work, if the weather isn't favourable.
We have got use to cooking on the Weber, and Fysh would like to keep the cook top & grill in an unused condition.
Usually, we would take my 80 series with the rear fold camper and the Weber would be on the folded down back seats.
Anyway, just thought I'd ask, I might have to make something.
Cheers.

Hairs, I am aware that Off-road Down Under have brackets for clamping down a Weber, they also do slides and other bits.
I have been contemplating removing our stainless steel slide out kitchen and replace it with one of their simple Weber slides as we don’t use the current slide out kitchen other than to rest the Weber on and we could save around 30kg if removed.

Hey Rags,

Awesome.

I think you might need the Weber Q to have the flame out fitted if you are going to mount it like that.

Yes, I' aware of the Flame out regulations, cheers.
I just want store it in the tunnel when travelling, not fix it to use on the slide.
The boot tunnel is not covered by the roll-out awning, and if the annex walls were to be used, it would still be outside, so not practical on wet blowy days.
I would use one of the 9kg bottles from the draw bar, and sit the weber on a table under the awning.

I just pack my weber away in the front box, but not on a slide, and use a small table under the annex myself as well.
I have looked at the flame out device though, and have not decided if I will fit it onto my weber anyhow. It needs a 12v source but that would not be a problem though.

It seems the new regs are not retrospective.
They don't apply to appliances manufactured prior to recertification.
Just saying....

Can I connect my Weber gas barbecue to the piping or gas supply of my caravan or boat?
To comply with the updates to the Australian and New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 5263.1.7:2020 (Gas appliances: Domestic outdoor gas cooking appliances), you should not connect a gas cooking appliance to your caravan or boat if:
it was manufactured post recertification and carries a permanent marking stating “Do not install in, or connect to consumer piping or gas supply system of a boat or caravan” (printed on data label on Weber barbecues); and
It does not have a flame safeguard device fitted.
If your Weber gas barbecue does not have the permanent marking on the data label, stating “Do not install in, or connect to consumer piping or gas supply system of a boat or caravan,” it was manufactured prior to recertification. The updates to the standard are not retrospective, so do not apply to these barbecues. For further information, please refer to this NewsFlash from the Australian Gas Association.
We recommend you contact your caravan’s insurance company and review your policy’s Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) if you have any questions regarding your policy’s inclusions.

Cheap insurance for the price IMWO
It is..but only for the Baby Q...at the moment....

And in GeoffA's reply, the articles seem to have quite a few "if's" and "should's", not "does" and "shall's".
-
Our Weber did many miles held down like this in the box . Elastic strap was fastened underneath and the Carabiner ends mate it easy to unclip.
-
Hi mate,
If it was a box, I could do what you've done, but it's a tunnel/side door.
I'm thinking, I'll go for something like the brackets posted earlier.
It's not going to be on a slide and used, it's just for travel.
Thanks your reply.

Hi mate,
They would work, with a tie down strap over the legs, I was going to tie one around the lid as well, over & under to stop the lid from opening.
Be cheaper too.

Cheers mate.
I don't have a slide, but I can use the brackets and tie down straps to secure it.
