It is with heavy heart I post this. He was a great guy and enjoyed his company greatly. He visited a few times since I moved to Kingaroy and will be greatly missed. The below text is copied from his FB page posted by one of his family.
Am sure he is telling some good yarns up top around a campfire drinking some Jacks. Till next time Rob, travel safely.
For those who haven’t heard the news yet, Uncle Robert passed on the evening of November 25, after his 9 year battle with cancer.
After his diagnosis, he retired and clocked over 400 000kms on his much loved Land Cruiser, travelling all over Australia (along with a large map where he plotted all the paths taken).
With over 850 parachuting jumps (also logged in detail in true Uncle Robert fashion) and Hash Harrier Runs across multiple countries, Uncle Robert was never one to shy away from an adventure.
From early family life in the Kimberly’s to finding a place he made his home in Kalbar, Queensland, Uncle Robert made friends and stories with all of us.
His final challenge was well fought for many years, his family are incredibly proud of the fight he put up and already miss him dearly.
His ashes will be spread next year in the Pilbara at a place of his choosing.
As Uncle would say, we’ll have a jacks tonight.

I'm so sorry to hear this Noel.
I had messaged him only a couple of weeks ago, because I had not heard from him when I had invited him to one of our 4wd Club camps.
Which he did try to get to.
He hadn't replied, life got busy and I didn't follow it up.
Thank you for posting.
I raise my glass to Rob,
An honest bloke.
You don't use magic to disappear, ya use a 4x4 & Swag.
